No such thing as sick without covid.

I'm with you. This is nuanced and with more degrees than it seems. For me in this instance when an animal is suffering and I have the legal ability to end it. I will. That superseded the elk in the alfalfa goal g&f set. Of course I had to 'old yeller' my horse many years ago.

Probably some of the best meat imaginable

Yeah, not only was that calf already doomed to die a miserable death, but had you shot its mother it would have just been worse. I’d have a hard time putting an arrow in a spotted calf, but there is no question you spared it some suffering. Nature is metal stuff right there.

I either walk back tune or broadhead tune my bows but today thought I would try bareshaft tuning after a papertune. This is from about 25 yards. I have been told all bareshaft will tell you is that your spine is correct and paper tune will tell you how much torque you are applying. Anyone bareshaft tune?

So we got back yesterday and it was an absolute blast! Totally exceeded my expectations. We went with Alaska fishing adventures at Anglers Lodge in Sterling. The Sockeye were going nuts the last two days we were there cause they closed down the commercial guys. Non stop action and the ocean fishing was outstanding. First box of fish got here this a.m. the rest of it on the 10th. The weather was excellent, didn't get rained on once. Also got to experience a tsunami evacuation in Seward - not so much fun at midnight after a long day fishing lol. It really was a great trip! I'll definitely be going back and the folks and guides at Anglers were all top notch. Great atmosphere to! Here's some pics

The story. G&F called me last week and asked if I wanted a depredation cow tag for round valley after a minutes of thought I decided to take it. I heard it expires the 8th. What she actually said was the 5th. My wife had the show low creek hunt that expires today so it would give me the weekend to hunt. She got her elk Tuesday and I was really relaxed Wednesday until I saw the date on my tag. Last night I go to the very south end of the area and nothing. Get a semi late start from my house in show low today. Rushing to my vantage point I see a few cows just off the road by the river and figured why not. Sneaking in to where that cow is at the beginning of the thread I jump a 3 legged calf with dots in bad shape. I say to myself sh!t and take the 20 yard shot it runs 18 yards and falls over. For s&g I finish the stock on the cow and take the picture. Hardest part was deciding to rock climb out, go through the swamp, wade the creek, or go through willow jungle to get out. Willow jungle was the best. The cliffs the river the jungle before anyone says anything this hunt has a special exemption for archery hunter where you can shoot within a 1/4 mile from an occupied structure and it is encouraged to shoot the elk that are in the alfalfa.

I bought this gun a year or two ago from a buddy. I wanted a nice rifle with a wood stock. It is nice for sure, but will sit in my safe because I don’t want to beat it up on hunts. I’ve only put 5 rounds through it since I have owned it. Would like to trade for another 270 WSM but open to other calibers also. Could trade just rifles or throw in everything how it sits (seekins rings, PST first gen). Located in Gilbert

Totally not disagreeing with what you decided to do, and in the moment I might have done the same. But, if the goal of the hunt is population management, it seems like arrowing the fertile and healthy cow might have aligned with the objective better than taking a calf that nature likely would have claimed on its own. Again, no issues here as far as I'm concerned (not that my opinion matters anyways), just another way to look at it--and another example of why ethics are hard to regulate because ethics often depend on the eye of the beholder.

update - free box of .22lr with purchase of truck just enter CWT in the promo code box at checkout to recieve your free box of ammo. - maybe dont look at it like you are buying a truck and get a free box of ammo. look at it like buying a brick of 22 ammo for regular price and getting a sweet truck for free. 207k miles Mostly new tires cold ac runs great no oil leaks 4x4 all new breaks and front rotors 2 months ago comes pre loaded with a coues whitetail sticker and I personally guarantee any buck/bull/turkey you shoot this season will score 37% more than it would be with any other truck. with the kind of luck and hunting experience this truck has I wouldn’t be surprised if you start shooting 1” groups at 900 yards call/text 4802908227 for more pics or info.

I wish all the "cant eat horns" guys would quit applying for bull tags. I think each hunt has a reasonable expectation of trophy size associated with it. Anything less is s failure on trophy size but does not mean the hunt was a failure. We rarely kill what we are after, but we still manage to knock down quite a few dinks haha. I consider the hunt a success minus the trophy size.

Middle Kenai. We launched at Lower Skilak Lake and fished down towards Sterling. If I get on Google Earth I can probably figure out exactly where we were. There was a grass island/gravel bar kinda out in the middle that we were standing on. Bald Eagles were nested right across the river from where we were. It was so cool! Our 9 fish turned into 26.5 #s of filets so these fish were probably somewhere between 7 to 10 #'s I would guess. The day before we fished 85K fish moved past the sonar at the mouth. The Good Lord provides!

I'm back in Yuma now. It was one of the best vacations I have ever been on, and I have had some great trips! I know where I will be spending about a month a year when I retire, that's for sure!

This lady right here showed me and her Dad how it was done. The beer I was drinking was a Kenai Brewing Grateful Red, local red beer perfect for catching "red" salmon. The whole trip was just unreal and so much fun! If you guys are ever looking for a guide on the Kenai, Jason Lesmeister is a bad butt! He is professional, competitive, fun to fish and talk smack with, had great gear, and got us tuned up in no time flat!

Majority of Arizona hunters do it voluntarily. A higher percentage in AZ do because they are asked than hunters in CA do because they are told (it's required by law in CA). Less lead poisoning in condors as a result. That's something for Kaibab hunters to be proud of and several lessons on human nature.... We have used copper on several Kaibab deer hunts. A buck and a couple youth doe hunts. I have also used leftover copper ammo in .270 for cow elk. All performed very well. Pass through shots except the elk. I recovered that bullet just under the far hide. Expanded beautiful and dropped her practically I'm her tracks. Anyways, all I have found is copper ammo, didn't draw a tag for anything. Folks that drew may want to use non toxic in the condor zone if they can.
