I’d suggest maybe going just a little further south, maybe 70-75 miles from Tucson. A lot less pressure.

As you listed in your areas of interest “Saguaro National Park” I’d definitely focus on that. Best opportunity for hitting the rut in the time frame you’re working with. Just make sure to stay within the boundaries of the Saguaro National Park not outside of them. AZGFD watch that outside area surrounding pretty hard.

I enjoy running a few cameras and I will miss it but banning the cameras was the right thing to do.

I have taken a couple nice bucks with a rifle and my bow, now I want to take one with my Taurus PT99. I know it has the power to get it done, what is your opinion on the 9mm? I have done ballistic testing with the 147grn Hornady XTP. With the best load I was getting 12.5" of penetration with an expansion of about 2.5.

Finally. Was just thinking they should have something around this location. Will be convenient to go there during lunch hour!

I love running my cameras and have friends that do also. This is the most unintrusive way to see and look at wildlife in their natural habitat and learn to understand the cylces of Nature. I only started doing cameras in 2014 and do it every year with or without a tag and with or without a hunter. That should not be illegal! Now if I have a tag or Im taking somebody I think 48 hours before hunt starts you cant check or your look at a camera in the unit your hunting and through the hunt is a good compromise. It still meets their supposedly fair chase narrative. You cant legislate morals and ethics. But they sure are trying to. They did it all wrong and they have continued down this pathway of we are the commission and nobody questions us and our decisions.

Just curious - you sound as if you are fighting this due to the government's mishandling and dishonesty rather than the actual camera itself. If so, why is this the issue you have chosen to fall on your sword in today's world?

Get one with a removable breach plug, it makes cleaning alot simpler!!

I borrowed rifles from friends and family for my first 4 years of big game hunting. All 4 different rifles were in .30-06 Spr. When I turned 18, I saved up and bought an Interarms Mark X .270 Win. Hunted with that rifle for years. I killed several deer and an elk with it. Paige killed her first elk with it. My Dad killed his first deer with it too. My cousin killed his first deer with it. Several friends killed both deer and elk with it. It was not smooth. It was not overly accurate. It was not real pretty. It was nothing special. It had a cheap scope on it. But it sure killed a lot of game. I sometimes regret selling it. But I hope the new owner has as good of luck with it as we did.

XTP is a great bullet.
