Hunted 12 days over salt and although sounds easy this was one of the hardest hunts I have ever been on. All I can say is this hunt will test your mental toughness to the max! Special thanks to my dad for being by my side the whole way and keeping me going and special Thanks to Russ Jacob and Laura Jacoby for all the help!

If you happen to be in Pinetop over this Memorial Day weekend, feel welcome to stop in and say hello. It would be nice to put some faces with names. I will be in my booth of landscape photography at the art show being held Fri-Sun at The Gathering Place across from Pinetop Lakes Country Club on Buck Springs Road. My booth is on the concrete basketball court on the east end of the show grounds. Bull is from GCNP 7/2015 Doug

I found an area in 20a that had some built up walls at the top of a good hill years ago. I was more looking for deer than indian ruins though so I didn't spend as much time looking at them as I probably should have. Jazz if you want the coordinates let me know, I will send them to you.

That's beautiful. Wish there was a coin beside it for comparison. In the shape of a Clovis point. How long is it? I've been told I can find points anywhere. Yesterday I found this broken obsidian point in my driveway. Must have brought it in from a neighboring wash when I was putting gravel down.

Eh, I don’t really see it that way. ‘Price gouging’ is generally a term that applies when prices are jacked-up on goods/services that folks really NEED. I see the latest guns & ammo prices more in terms of a free market and capitalism at work. Demand far exceeding supply driving sky high prices. 😉

We started this year looking in desert in southern AZ. in 4 trips we have found 20 or so. My son and I split up and combined walk 20-25 miles a day one day a weekend. we have 4 trips in so far so this year 80-100 miles of searching. Most of the sheds have been in one area, yes we are also looking for trails and rubs in preparation we get drawn this year.

I won't be up there, but good luck, Doug! Hope the 'flatlanders' show-up, and that business is good!

Last I looked at ammo prices people were asking 1.00 a round. I figured .90 cents a round would be fair, if you dont like the price make an offer or move along pard 🤷‍♂️

I'm already 30 years in.....kind of too late! Other than the piece of wedding cake we gently shoved in each others mouth at the reception we never got any more cake. She wants me to find a small cake for our Anniversary. Thanks for the referral bowhunter4life!

Here is what I have learned from my research. In terms of draw odds it just sort of is what it is. These hunts are hard to draw. There aren't many tags and a lot of poeple apply. Not really any secrets here. First hunt = Migration after snow melt. Basically chasing them back up the plateau. You'll want to commit a lot of time but be flexible when you take it depending on spring conditions. Hides and Capes are in primo winter condition. June and July Hunts = Sitting Salt / Water waiting for buffalo to cross out of the park. Hides tend to thin out as the weather warms up and bulls roll in the dirt to cool off and fight bugs. Cow Hunt July/August = We hunted this one this year. If the monsoon is late then the water conditions can be very good for hunting water/salt. There are young calves on this hunt, so prepare yourself for the potential of hunting females with very young companions. Apply ethics as you feel appropriate. Fall Cow Hunts = I cant say a lot about this but you will be sitting salt/water. Conditions vary with weather. From my experience be aware of moon phases when selecting hunt dates. These animals can become very nocturnal.
