Good day, everyone! I got an out of state cow tag for 8-14 October. I’ve hunted unsuccessfully there back in 2012 and was a helper for a buddy in 2011, and am extremely excited to return to the base to hopefully fill the freezer. I’m currently filling out my forms for the Limited Area, but I never went in during the two years I went. I have a crossbow because of an old shoulder injury and plan on using that. Also carrying a muzzleloader in case I find some outside the LA during scouting. Any intel on good areas inside the LA? Also, I’m starting to come up with a plan for meat just in case. I want to have things deboned and packaged by the time I head out, and was curious if anyone had any tips on how to ensure it keeps for a multi-day trip home. really enjoy reading these forums. Thanks and I’m looking forward to seeing the beautiful mountains again.

Have you ever shot a 3.5 inch turkey load? It will not take long before you realize 3" and even 2 3/4' turkey loads are plenty. I literally saw stars every time I shot 3.5" loads.

Well we’re gonna find out. This morning I set them both up in my backyard with one facing the wall and the other on top of the wall facing the street corner with no vegetation to trigger it or cast shadows. After a few hours the one on top of the wall had no false triggers. Just cars and people. The one facing the wall was another story. My toddler found it and moved it so it was catching the corner of the grill cover blowing in the wind. 779 photos in three hours haha. I repositioned the one on top of the wall to within view of an ocotillo at about 15 yards facing west as the sun moves around on a day with a pretty good wind. Experiments are fun if nothing else.

1640 so far! It turned into an all day family project! I had a lot of great help. But the wrists are trashed! 😂

We went yesterday for the first time in awhile. Killed it on stockers, it was my youngest kids 2nd fishing trip and she had a blast!
