For the past 9 yrs I’ve been tasked to help, guide & mentor my good buddy’s (2) sons who live in Yuma who make the trip out to Tucson every year to hunt javelina. They both have had shots in the past and missed, but this year was “the year”. Friday was a bust, saw some just couldn’t seal the deal. Saturday got out early and started glassing the flats. Within minutes I hear the clacking/chattering of two pigs fighting just around the way. I tell the boys to start glassing this hillside and to pick apart the mountain since it was covered in large volcanic black rocks. As soon as I put my glasses up I see a “pig pile “, now I’ve seen videos and people talk about these, but never ever in the wild. I tell them, hey look beneath this Palo Verde tree, look at all the pigs sleeping. They unfortunately can’t find the pile, but do locate 5 pigs just standing broadside 10 yds away to the left. They get excited and line up for a 100 yd shot. I inform them once the 1st shot goes down range the pigs are going to scatter. Well Ty let’s one rip and it drops, well sure enough the pig pile erupts and pigs are running in every direction. I’m patiently waiting for Jake to shoot and commenting while laughing on how pigs are everywhere. I tell Jake 3 pigs are headed right at us, they come trotting by at 30 yds. Jake shoots and pig goes down. At this time 3 more are headed right at us again, I take aim and drop mine. Complete and udder pig madness. Had a fun time teaching them on how to gut em. The questions like, am I doing it right? How far do I insert my knife? Is this edible? Does this get cut out or does it stay? We took some pics and forwarded to their dad, he was stoked and couldn’t believe both his boys tagged out. We had 10 tags and 6 pigs taken from 3 different herds. Can’t wait till next year to relive the stories around the campfire!!!! IMG_1346.MOV

Was able to take a nice pig in 19b last week. It was the first experience my son had of big game hunting and I think he is now hooked. From camping to hiking and glassing, he seemed to enjoy ever minute.

Finally availed myself of Duwanes's glassing class this past Saturday with Duwane and son in law Nick. Great lessons learned and information taken in. Was amazed with the enthusiasm shown by the 2 of them. 3 plus hours of glassing deer , telling stories and talking hunting. I can't wait to put it all in practice. Put me down as a highly recommend.

My son has killed a couple mule deer but this year he killed his 1st Coues. Due to his school schedule he wasnt able to scout with me. I scouted 3 different weekends and with it shaping up to be a tough hunt we decided to hunt this buck. I actually figured he was smaller than he is. We were both happy as we walked up to him. We started our hike at 2am and made it to where he was by 6:15. Shot shortly after. Good scouting and a good plan worked out perfectly. Made an absolute perfect shot in front right shoulder/heart at 380yards. Bonus Rams during scouting

Took the lady out for the first trip this year. This was her first time and although we didn’t come up with any brown gold she did find her first shed. Would’ve liked to see what this was before it turned to chalk. Good luck this year to everyone hittin the hills.

This year my brother shot his buck at 600 yards and I was lucky enough to catch it on film. Shooting a 140grain factory Federal Premium accubond out of an old (90's) Browning A-Bolt in 7mm08. Plenty of you are shootin farther but we were pretty stoked to get it done at this distance. Here is a cliff hanger clip of it but click on the YouTube link to check out the full day of hunting, the 3rd episode in my 2020 YouTube Coues Hunt series. Enjoy!!! short clip instagram.mov

When my wife has a tag, it really is the most enjoyable hunts out of the year. We set up camp Thursday evening and I was able to locate a herd at last light miles away. Friday morning we perched ourselves 800ish yard away from the last sighting. We were watching 3 bucks when the herd of pigs walked by them bout 730 and the stalk was on. They dropped down deep into a cut, with the wind and grass causing issues we got the wind right and went right at em and she took a 33 yard shot. Hopefully the video works out, this pig took a sleeping pill through her whole body 👍 FullSizeRender.mov

That was a VERY raw deal they served up a bunch of guys. I have 0 respect for their tribal game commission after that went down.

News misleads by saying horses are wild, they are ferral, hence being shot. Yes, real wild horses are protected but we don't have any here in AZ. Purina im Flag needs to take in horses again for feed. It will save ranchers and wildlife.

I tried my non global/Asian fit and those fit snug to my face and almost touch my face all the way around ie., like a goggle. The global/Asian fit sits off the face around forehead a smidge and a little more light comes through from the bottom. the bottom doesnt touch my cheeks like my others do.

You might as well kiss hunting goodby in your lifetime friend! Because now they have brought to the forefront fearful SAFETY issues in hunting starting as simple as a trail cam ban , Now 2 hunters arguing over a hunting spot with guns oh my now they are gonna shoot each other and or beat each other to death (SAFETY ) it could happen so lets stop it now ! Now maybe we should we ban guns because they can hurt another hunter or ourselves or an innocent bystander . IT DOESNT STOP! What about those bullets that miss their target with no proper backstop . SAFETY What about that arrow that just missed its intended animal. Where did it go oops it could of hit a hunter or bystander , I mean come on there is alot more people in the woods now days its dangerous ( SAFETY) Have they ever considered adding TRAIL CAM ethics to the hunter education safety course 1st. Teach our hunting public the standard . So now we should ban cars because a 16 year old might race with it and kill himself. No you educate him about the hazards . If he messes up you take his car away. Hmmm Laws only work if their enforceable and have consequences and those that follow the laws understand that. Any Trail cam ban will be unenforceable because you cant (Hunter ) but he can (Nonhunter) GAME & FISH has opened up a can of worms anything to do with hunting can now be based on a safety issue anti's are gonna love this one! What a bunch of foolish men like yourself that have bought into it! Shame on you Start selling your guns and bows its a Public Hazard based on the AZGFD LETTER. THE REPERCUSSION DOES NOT STOOOOOOP! It will echo through our hunting world for years to come.

Certainly couldn’t be a fair chase issue. As the governors tag is 365 days and is neck deep in paid helpers. If they call trail cams unfair chase I would argue the governors tag is the reigning champ of the unfair chase discussion. And it all begins with a dude with a pocket full of cash at a banquet.

have the success rates gone up in the last few years? and if they did, are we sure thats not because people are shooting far now? i aint buying that success rate talk.

I only look at bulls in 23, 3a3c and the 4s. Those are notoriously dry units already and so maybe it didn't affect them as much. I never saw giant bulls during the hunts, but I did see them on camera. I heard the same about 23 and the 4s. I also heard that about 1 and 27 but I didn't spend any time over there. Just as in cattle it doesn't take much green grass to start fatting them up. BUT they need continued new growth. That is why if we get get rain every month I think it will be ok. But again. I doubt that will happen.
