More to do with the angle than the broadhead. My recommendation is take nothing but a broadside to quartering away shot with a bow. People will crucify me for saying that. I know tons of animals are killed every year quartering to or frontal, but that is my rule. I killed a bull in 2013 that I watched come toward me from 100 yards. Stood in a wallow tearing it up 27 yards away, walked to me to less than 10 yards...never better than quartering to. I actually said to myself "Is this really going to happen? Is he going to be this close and I don't get a shot?" I waited and was blessed when he got nervous and jumped. Stopped quartering away at 25 yards. Dead bull. Just my personal rule. I would rather lose an opportunity than wound an animal. Crucifying commence.

Im sorry, you've come to the wrong class. Your admission slip says you're supposed to be in Shed Building 101 across the hall.

No crucifying from me. I think it’s a good rule and admirable to have a rule that you stick with.

My dad shot a bull last night. Rut has been absolutely insane in 5bs. The bull was quartering slightly towards him and he placed a shot that I didn’t think could be any more perfect. Low Center of mass right behind the shoulder. I knew it was a dead elk the moment it hit. We watched him run off with the herd, heard a crash, and waited 45 minutes. We got up, walked to where he was shot, found immediate blood.... not a lot of it, and that was all we found. We had 4 guys looking all last night and this morning scouring miles and not one drop of blood last where he was shot.... and no sign of him. I am absolutely blown away.... so what happened??? Montec G5 broad head and arrow went 3/4 the way in. An update on myself.... I bugled this morning and the herd bull came flying over the hill grunting at me. He ran within 5 feet of me Right at me and I actually yelled at him to stop because I was terrified😂. He backed up 20 yards broadside and I squeezed off a shot that unfortunately was deflected by the twigs I was hiding behind. Crazy times.

It’s almost worth it just for the brass right now.

Slow day today. Only heard 1 bugle, saw no elk. Headed into new country tomorrow.

I agree and will not take a frontal or quartering frontal shot on a large animal such as elk. Too much armor.

They drill it and insert a plug with info like the date it was killed and unit but that's for one that has been hunted legal and not a deadhead

Taste test between Medaglia D'Oro and Mount Hagen is complete. Testers were my daughter (21 years old ) and me (age unknown). Followed directions for each and added 1/2 & 1/2 and sugar, which is how I drink my coffee. Our totally unscientific, yet completely unbiased opinion is Medaglia D'Oro is the better coffee. More flavor and body and less like most instant coffees. The Mount Hagen is not bad in the least but is like every other instant coffee....flat with not a lot of flavor. The Medaglia D'Oro is a step or two up so that'll be going with me in a few weeks and the french press will be staying home. Eddie

I have shipped several scopes. I always tell them it is a "precision optical tool" or "telescope". I had the same issue with FedEx once in Scottsdale. Went to my local store, and no issues.

Get a label maker, print a label and drop off your package. Eliminates dealing with stupid people.

All just depends on what you want to do with your pack. My Late Season pack I bought in 2011 and it was right around $500 then. Having a separate external frame is nice but not necessary for what most of us do. I have had meat and quarters in my Late Season on multiple occasions and it works very well. I try to put my money where my mouth is when I can. I hate that China is ruining us economically. Things like boots, packs, tents, and whatever else I can buy that's made in the USA I do it. I get it though. Can't buy a phone from the USA. Everybody has their own price in mind that is tolerable. For me a Kifaru pack is worth the additional cost to have a pack Made by Americans in Wheat Ridge CO. That might not mean a dang thing to some of you guys and that's fine too.

After spotting this bear at first light we put a plan in place after a two mile hike we arrived just as this bear was going to bed , we decided to stay put and wait him out. This made for a long day but finally around 5 he got back up and started to feed. She was very patient waiting for the right shot opportunity. The bear fed in and out of cactus patches not offering a shot it finally bedded back up and gave her a shot at 440 yards she made a lethal shot but this bear got back up she hit it again right behind the shoulder it went down but got back up and continued coming down hill so she followed up that shot with another perfectly placed shot. This time it was down for good . I’m very proud of her and everything she has accomplished I’m so lucky to share this with her. Here are the video links to her shooting and the bear as well. https://youtu.be/Bmx7swiJ-E0 https://youtu.be/MvkMfNfK9i8 1F252D2B-EA32-4EA1-A2F4-D0A283BBB5D2.MOV 6204EC82-9C9B-4819-A6AA-960E227BBCD3.MOV
