Hoghunter spent a lot of time helping in the classifieds. He passed away a couple of days ago during an operation. His wife asked another member, Bill@roofer, to post her words, but he was having a hard time making it happen. So he asked for my help. I know this is not necessarily the politically correct place, but Hoghunter spent a lot of time here. In the short time I've been here I've grown to appreciate and respect him. He is missed already. Here is what she sent and requested be posted: "If you want to post this- from Heather Many of you know that Mike passed away on Monday. He was a great dad, avid hunter and lover of animals, and my best friend. We are still trying to figure out what all the next steps are so we appreciate all the well wishes. I thank all who have reached out to help and if I did not respond to everyone, I'm sorry. I will try to get back to you. Even though many people will not get to be with sick loved ones because of the pandemic, I was blessed to be with Mike when he went to meet Jesus. He is no longer crippled and in pain but dancing with Jesus. Praise God!"

My most sincere condolences. One of my favorite scriptures in times like these is Rev 21: 3-4 "Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. Fast twist 270 WSM, 264 WIN MAG, 7 Rem Mag, 6.5 PRC, 6.5 RPM. 156gr 6.5 bullets would be cool to shoot. The problem with the big boomers is barrel life if you like to shoot it. I shot out my 257 weatherby, and rebuilt it as a 257 weatherby again with the idea of shooting the 131gr Blackjack bullets. I dont expect great barrel life, but this time I had the rifle built with a barrel nut type barrel so I can switch barrels fairly easily when I shoot this one out.

A message from Linda: Hi to all from MIke Misker's mom. I am overwhelmed at the support from all of you. We celebrate in the fact that Mike is pain free for the first time in 25+ years and is sitting at the feet of Jesus. My thought yesterday was Mike telling Jesus and hunting story and Jesus saying "yes my son, I know I was there with you." Those of you that know him well know how many stories he could tell especially about hunting. We appreciate the prayers and support to all our family and also greatly appreciate the donations being made for Heather, James & Alton. With his pension ending at his death it's going to be a tough couple months until paperwork is processed for Heather and as Mike's mom I know his first priority would be to take care of his family. Thank you to all of you. Previously posted were my mailing address for anything to be sent to Heather - Misker Family, 515 E. Carefree Hwy #176, Phoenix, AZ 85085 and today at the request of some who don't use checks I sent up a Venmo account for her Linda-Misker. Thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart. God is giving us the strength to get through but things are a little scattered right now. I had 15x56's for years and loved them. I sold them and bought these to use on my 2018 wilderness sheep hunt. I was packing in and since I would be carrying a spotter and bino's the 12's just made more sense. I have since traded my spotter for a pair of Zeiss 10x54 RF's that have become the bino's that I use the most.

You could keep it a 270 wsm and rebarrel it to a faster twist such as a 1:8 to shoot the higher bc bullets such as bergers and I think nosler is coming out with some new bullets to support their 27 nosler.

I hate shooting mechanicals unless I'm shooting long range. I do prefer to be a bowhunter instead of an archer and get in close. In my experience with a properly tuned arrow/head combo and a bow most fixed heads will shoot the same. That being said in a pack of 3-6 broadheads only 1 or 2 fit that criteria. I've often times had a different broadhead on each arrow. They all shot the same. For fixed I prefer the G5 striker and wacem. The 3 blade slick tricks did well for me. Again out of every 6 broadheads only a few work. Ive had really good luck with Sevr and Bloodsport night fury for mechanicals as far as flight goes.

Stick with the 270wsm!

I have killed 3 elk with them 2 cows and a bull. On both of the cows I hit the shoulder blade and still got a pass through. Both shots were under 30yds. The bull was 54yds and a frontal shot. All 3 died within 25yds
