1 pointBeen a while since I posted anything in this section, but I figured this was worth it. I'm rebarreling and repurposing a rifle and just got one of the new Bartlein carbon wrapped barrels. This thing is pretty nice and I expect it to shoot as good as my other Bartleins did. Pairing it with a Manners EH1, Seekins M5 bottom metal, and my Defiance Deviant action. This should make a pretty nice, lighter weight multipurpose 6.5 Creedmoor.

1 pointBought one from Lowe’s 100bucks. Works great. Needed it for a turkey hunt. We also bought a cooking grate to go over it with tin foil to cook our meals. Great purchase. Good for cooking and fire pit

1 pointAlso be aware that gohunt will auto charge your CC the following year when it expires. That kinda pissed me off. Had to call them to get them to put it on annual renewal as the auto renewal is standard I guess.

1 pointIf you're looking for AGM batteries, check out East Penn near 59th Ave south of I-10. They have Deka AGM's (group 27) for around $100. They are blemished (missing a handle, scratched, etc) but are otherwise new. I run them in my bass boat and have been for 7 years or so. Still going strong. Solid deal.

1 pointTook advantage of some light winds in northern Arizona this morning to get out and shoot some of the 124 Hammer Hunters behind H1000 powder. Sure have had some windy days lately with one having gusts to 65mph. This is the first group of 5 shots into 0.58" at 100 yards. 3298 fps average with ES of 49 and SD of 17. The ProChrono lists a deviation up to 1%, so that could be +/- 33 fps, ES 66fps. So some of the ES of the string could be chronograph error.

1 pointThe Eurasion Collared doves can be hunted year round I believe. Maybe you're lucky and those are the ones giving you problems.

1 pointGo try a bunch on, the folks at REI are very patient. It is really about what fits best and what features you want. I currently wear La Sportiva, Asolo, and Lowa. I have a slightly narrow foot so most of the euro boots fit me better. The most expensive boots I have are Zamberlan got excited a few years back after all of the great reviews and I wanted to love them but they just don't fit me well.
