For my own use on a pack rifle that would be used to shoot long distance I like the new Zeiss scopes. They track very well, has a rock solid zero stop, light weight and have great glass in them. I have the ZBR 2 retical. I bought a demo and it was brand new there wasn't even a ultra fine mark on it. While your on red hawks web site they have the new Proof Elevation light weight hunter in 300 win. 6 lbs, 8 oz. The CA rifles use a work over M 700 action the PR uses a Bighorn Origin action. https://redhawkrifles.com/demo-zeiss-conquest-v6-3-18x50-rifle-scope/ https://redhawkrifles.com/proof-research-elevation-lightweight-hunter-rifle/

You would of more than likely killed and had fun but I think you made the right choice. Sometimes spur of the moment excitement is what life’s about! I’m not that guy. I prefer plans and being prepared. But again, quick decisions are what the grandkids hear about. You made the right choice. How was the tag turned in if the hunt already had it’s first half? So a guy can hunt the first part, not kill and turn it in?

There are worse problems to have. Definitely going to start implementing the C4 and some different cleaning procedures after this but the up side is I learned something new. The C4 will be here tomorrow and the rest of the stuff in a few days so I'll get to work on it little by little as time permits. Fortunately being home a lot for awhile affords me the opportunity to chip away at it.

Very interesting and entertaining thread. This was my grandfather's knife. The sheath on the right is the original sheath (as far as I know) and the one on the left a custom sheath I had made for it with my grandfather's initials in Greek (his native language) and a whitetail deer for all his time hunting whitetails in Michigan. He was one of my heroes in life and this knife is a priceless heirloom to me. I know it's a KA-BAR but apart from that and a little family oral history, I don't know much about it. If you do, I'd love to hear your thoughts or guesses. Pics of the tang stamps are below as well. (I'd guess it was made in the '50s but I could be off by a decade or more in either direction.) *Edit: an Internet search shows what looks like the same tang stamp with a range of 1927-1945. Pic below. That would make since based on what I know about the family history of this knife.

Just gotta say, my wife is a teacher and they had to completely adjust to this thing at the drop of a hat. She's got to coordinate zoom meetings with 50+ students, and carry on like normal. They still have to create lesson plans, everything they had to do before, but with a lot more dumped on them. Now, they also get super upset parents who are having issues adjusting. If anything, they should be recognized for how quickly they adjusted and kept on teaching despite the added hardships. FWIW, I just read this to her, and her response was, the douchebag who suggested teachers stop getting paid should get his butt kicked, and she's willing to do it. So there's that.

Not being racist but its a Mexican thing just like toilet paper thrown in the corner, watched for many years on job sights, and white Boys right all over the inside with sharpies. Just my take

Near Mormon Mountain... Had 2 birds gobbling yesterday afternoon, and went over the hill to close the distance and ended up about 40 yards from a black bear milling around. Seemed like an eternity staring down each other, but we both decided it’s best if we go our separate ways.

Nothing fancy ,just your trusty lever action. The only thing you packed was your deer.

Same here, was able to jump on my dirt bike and go hunt or shoot almost whenever I wanted. I was called to the principals office once and he walked me out to the parking lot. I had my shotgun in the gun rack on my back window of my truck. He told me I better move it behind the seat because it might be stolen being out in the open.

I love this thread....for me, my knives remind me of so many stories! My Puma Whitehunter is from 1969, but my dad bought it for $20 at a Ham Radio gathering him and I were at up near Munds Park 30 years ago. The stag handled CaseXX is from my grandpa, who used to be a Case dealer in the family furniture store in KY. The small skinner also came from my grandpa, made by a local knifemaker who (I believe) is no longer around....John "Grizz" Morgan. Finally, the red Victorinox seems like no big deal, but is my favorite story. It's the first knife I ever got, given to me by grandpa as we were working on the roof of his motor home (I'm guessing I was 6 or 7). I'm not especially known for keeping track of things, so the fact that I was able to keep from losing this knife through high school was a miracle. When I was 18 or 19, I was fishing Page Springs (up near Cottonwood). I fished the whole day and covered 1+ mile wet wading down the creek. When I got back to the truck, the knife was gone. I remembered using the scissors to trim tippet through the day, but had no idea where I had it last. I was heartbroken. A little over a month later, I was back fishing Page Springs again. At some point, I just happen to glance down into a riffle and catch a glimpse of red. Sure enough, it was my knife. After a good soak and some brushing, she was cleaned up and brand like brand new, and I made sure to keep her tucked safe somewhere to pass on to my own boys with the story!
