Because a lot more people than they’ll admit have already had it. My friend who lives by me just tested positive for the antibodies. He had an “upper respiratory infection” in January. I myself went to the urgent care on January 18th on day 4 of being sick with the symptoms of fever, bad cough and trouble breathing. They didn’t test me for anything, just said I have the flu and that “it has been a really bad flu season this year”. I was sick for 3 1/2 more weeks. My wife and 5 kids all got sick after I did, each one to differing degrees. A lot of our neighbors got sick around the same time and everyone just assumed flu season was really bad this year. If millions more people have already had it then it’s much less deadly than originally thought. Did you see the article the other day about the inmate in Florence that “Died of Covid-19”?? He was a 79 year old man with lung cancer. That’s the front page news that keeps people scared.

I was talking with a group on another spot on this website, and I had a suggestion to start a thread on this. I am working to build a couple of longbows with my boys during this lockdown. I am a total hack here, learning as I go. No one has ever accused me of being wordy, but hope you enjoy it. All suggestions welcome- especially how to fix upsidedown photos. Drives me nuts. Generally, we were inspired by this youtube posting: I have attached an excel spreadsheet I built that details out the dimensions on the bow. Again, newbie on this, but I think it is right. Feel free to ask questions, but this spreadsheet does all the calcs for you automatically. The link to the spreadsheet is at the very bottom of this post. We started out by planning the dimensions of the bow (see upside down pic below). My guys still have a lot of growing to do, but to my surprise, their bows have to be pretty tall- 63 and 57 inches- see below. I found their draw lengths by this method: Fist to Mouth Measurement Unlike the first two full draw measurement methods described above, the fist to mouth measurement does not require any division. All you have to do is to have someone make one simple measurement. Position yourself so you are standing in front of a wall at about arm’s length away. For this measuring tactic, you are going to pretend you are holding a bow in the air. With one arm outstretched and formed into a fist (as if you are holding a bow in the air in front of you), rest your fist against the wall. Keeping your arm in position, take the other arm and draw back your hand to your cheek and mouth where your hand would be when in full draw. Remain in this imagined full draw position and consider your posture as you do so. Have someone measure from your mouth to your fist that is up against the wall to get your full draw measurements. Next, I wanted to keep this on the cheap but also use a good wood. We settled on using maple. Buying one 10' stick at home depot for $22. Backup was going to be poplar. We then cut the maple pieces to size and added drywall tape impregnated with wood glue for a fiberglass support. More purchases at Home Depot. I think we spent another $15 on the glue and the drywall tape. We let the glue dry for 24 hours. Using a chop saw, a box cutter, and a poorly made jigsaw, we cleaned put he bows into general shape. We then started working on the tillering tree. I used this post on youtube to make it. We are trying to make this as DIY as possible, so I went over to Four Peaks Archey in Mesa for some B 50 bow string to make our own bows. He's the most old school archery guy out there, and apparently the company who makes this string when out of business. He doesn't have a website, but here is a FB post. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Four-Peaks-Archery/170201606327001 It was surprisingly hard to find the string- I called 3-4 places before I remembered about Four Peaks Archery. Here is what I bought: I'll be following this post on youtube for the actual making of the string: Next steps: we will be doing some floor tillering to get the bow thin enough to put on the tillering tree for proper work. For that, I need to source a draw knife. Working on that. Bow Diagam and Calculation.xlsx

when did i say anything about the city of Wuhan? again, this discussion started with you saying the rest of the country would be like NY or worse if we didnt shut down. which is absolutely false

I should note that I do believe this stuff is nasty, and I absolutely do not want to catch it. However, I also do not believe that my single parent daughter should have been forced out of her job and denied twice now for unemployment. It’s ridiculous. Thankfully, my wife and I are deemed essential and have been able to help all four of my children through this. That said, my reserve’s are quite depleted now. Hoping logical steps are taken very soon, but I believe severe damage has been done to our economy and we are now in for a long hard haul out of this mess.

New York made some terrible decisions that made the problem much worse. Dustin, if you really do love your freedom, you should see that your rights are being stepped on immensely through this.

new york is 8.4 million people in 302 square miles. climate. lifestyles. phoenix is less than 2 mill people in 517 miles. why would be like new york or worse? 2/3's of the world didnt do any shutdown. ny has a death rate 200x higher than the other 10 biggest cities in the world and tokyo had 93 deaths they didnt shut down.

Dustin The gov did correctly with the Models it had at the time. I dont fault them for that. some of the big city Govs took advantage of the situation after the 1st few weeks. Kinda like Hoarders with toliet paper have done.. then when things started looking like it wasnt as bad as they thought. they injected Politics into it and the media did what they do best. Over inflate everything to make someone look bad. in this case it was Trump and his Administration again Who would have thunked. Remember these are the same clowns that condemned trump for banning flights from certain countries and where the ones to say That his administration was overdoing it. more time goes on and the dems started taking more advantage of it from a political standpoint and a money stand point with the help of the media. changed there tune 180º when trumps Administration started backing off and looking at the full picture of the virus and different models. In the last 3-4 weeks they have gone just nuts with there new so called lock down power, I mean seriously your in a store buying groceries and shoot but you cant go to the next isle in the same store to buy seeds, electronics toys for the kids, clothes etc etc. The dems in most cases cant think rationally They go to the extream on everything and they have absolutely NO COMMON SENCE. look at Ca Ny NJ Michigan amd a few other states and the so called laws they enacted in the last 3-4 weeks. Ca has open beaches and parks except orange county CA. look at Michigan and Washington state and there lock down order everything is shut down you can go boating but you cant fish?, some other states have even dumber lock downs get pulled over for driving, walking out side, seeing family and the list goes on. when people dont listen and ask them questions to them, they take more measures and blame those people for even asking questions on this or that. The bad part is people in these cities are for the most part dumb, they have no common sense and only believe what people tell them. The only conspiricy was from CHINA and the WHO they hid the fact that it got out of a lab then used to to get back at the USA mainly trump for the tarriffs and hurt the USA, of coarse they blame the so called wet Markets as thats an easy one to blame from a human stand point especially in the US and other parts of the world were people think they stuff they do in those is sick and demented and been wanting to shut those down for ever. funny thin the WET MArkets been around before the beginning of time, people may have gotten sick but not virus sick from eating a Bat. They could have easily said that these Bats had a flea that transmitted the disease like haunta virus and the plague. that would ahve been a little more believable , that chinese dude ate a bat and started spewing the china cough . Whats even funnier is China never shut the wet markets down.

what facts do i need to check, NY has a 200x higher death rate than the other top 10 biggest cities in the world. something funky happening there. the original comment i responded to of yours was about the rest of the country being like NY or worse. my response probably not, i stand by that. hospitals are empty. you dont see this being political play at all?

Also, how can we know that the media isn't over inflating this? Im with trophyhunter on this. Look how many people die from the flu, common cold and others. Not to mention how many who died from this had underlying conditions. This never should have happend. It should have been a recommendation to the sick, weak and scared to stay home. All others could carry on business as normal. We just laid down and gave up.

I don't see it as a conspiracy theory, I see it as it showed how easily we gave in and surrender many of our constitutional rights. In some cases without a whimper. Next time it may be worse.

I’ve heard they’re really good and not woth a sh!t to eat. Depends on who you talk to
  15. 1 point
Dustin, you are assuming that your opinion is the correct one, and that most would agree with you. There are varying opinions from “experts” on this situation and how it should be handled. What I am stating is not an opinion, the fact of this is our constitutional rights are being violated in many different areas. It sounds as though you are okay with that, out of fear that it could be worse. That’s fine, but what about those that completely disagree with you? Should they be forced to completely lose their livelihoods, lose everything they have worked for? I tend to trust our free market system and believe that there are a lot of smart ways to go about keeping each other safe without destroying the economy.

Took this picture of them last Saturday just a mile down the road from the refuse station. Grazing right along the side of the road with no care whatsoever of vehicles or people. Right after I snapped the picture another vehicle went zipping by and they didn't even flinch.

Anyone who "wears out" a pair of Kenetreks in one year is someone who puts on some serious hiking, and someone who knows boots better than the rest of us know much about...well, anything. I'm obvoiusly a big fan of the Meindl Perfekt hunter boot, and I've worn out a few lifetimes of boots. Couesfan (Jim) and Coue's and Sheep (Gino) are wearing Kenetrek boots. That tells me something. These guys are way ahead of the curve of the average AZ hunter, not just on anmals, but the equipment they count on. Before I buy another pair of Meindle's I'll be trying these boots out. You gotta follow the success on lots of things. Boots are right up there IMO. I might skimp somewhere along the way, I don't have a pricey rifle or a top-dollar rifle scope, as long as they outshoot me, they are doing their job. But I won't skimp on glassing optics or boots...Been hunting AZ long enough to know those are top priorities.
