I was contacted last May to represent the NWTF in Arizona to be interviewed for a short video being produced. Jason Tarwater, the NWTF Regional Director from Montana came up with the idea to travel around the western US and hunt on public land within NWTF-funded habitat restoration projects. He was going to film every hunt and talk to NWTF, FS, and State Wildlife Agency representatives along the way. He hunted in CA, MT, AZ, and NM. Jason and is crew stopped by our house in Flagstaff last year on their way to the A-S to hunt. He interviewed me and my kids, both of whom are very active as JAKES memebers in our NWTF chapter here in Flagstaff. Here is the two minute teaser video of the AZ hunt. The full 9 minute video is supposed to be released at 4pm MST today. Maybe this will help get blood pumping for the upcoming turkey seasons! Enjoy and good luck out there!

+1 for Clay Goldman. Can’t go wrong with him. You can go wrong with a lot of taxidermists in AZ though so be careful.

Mogollon in Payson did this a couple years ago and I love the job Clay did.

Sounds absolutely stupid to me. Doesn’t seem anywhere near fire season in our forests here in Az. Had a lot of moisture this winter. They will probly just try and close the forests next...be careful agreeing with the logic of one idiot can screw it up so they “have to” do it.

Most of the forest roads around Flagstaff are now open. Gobble Gobble https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/coconino/alerts-notices/?cid=stelprdb5339811

I know several great ones. Some definitely specialize, and are exceptional at specific animals, while others excel at others. Anything in particular you are looking to have done? Also, keep in mind, a bigger name/highly reputable guy might cost a little more. But this site is littered with posts of guys who had stuff ruined, money lost, etc. by small guys who closed up shop and vanished, or ruined stuff. My votes for the top all around guys would go to: Clay Goldman at Mogollon Taxidermy, (Payson, AZ), Fantastic all around taxidermy. IMO, the best deer and elk guy in the state. Only person I am aware of in the state who has the machine to do velvet antlers in house (legit machinery, not injecting of sticking in a freezer for a LONG time). He is currently doing my bull from this past fall. Dale Robertson at Wild Heritage Taxidermy, (Young, AZ), I don't think he is taking new clients at this time. Fantastic all around taxidermy, but he is the best lion and cat guy in the business. I haven't seen ANYONE in the country who can consistently do the quality cat work Dale does. Richard Owens at Hunter's Lair Taxidermy, (Show Low, AZ), Great all around taxidermist and is currently doing my son's bull you see in my avatar picture. For birds, I recommend: Kyle Thorn at Cut-N-Strut Taxidermy, (Surprise, AZ), He used to do all birds, but is trying to focus solely on turkeys these days. He competes with the birds he works on and wins a lot of awards. Sven Eberson Wildlife Wings and Design Taxidermy, (Glendale, AZ). Skull cleaning and Euros: Draysen Hatch at Great Hunter Skullz, (Queen Creek, AZ), I am highly biased here (he is my son and I taught him), but I don't think anyone does a cleaner and whiter skull, and I have seen a lot. There are, of course, many other great ones in the state. I am by no means knocking any others. But I have seen first hand and done business with all of these guys. I have always been extremely impressed with everything I have seen done by them, and could provide personal photos from my family's collection from each of the above mentioned.

My gear is packed in the garage for next week already. I dont think I have ever been so anxious for a turkey hunt to start in my life. Taking a first timer (the daughter's soon to be ex roommate by default of marriage) with me, hoping to get him his first bird. Necessary activity per the governors orders, going grocery shopping old school. Warming trend should help, I hope.

Interesting that Trump has called in Mark Cuban as one of his business gurus along with Bezo and others to try and come up with a business solution. Cuban was pretty brutal towards Trump during the campaign in 16 claiming that Trump was going to fall on his face and our economy would tank! Mark Cuban: Trump "Worst Thing Possible For The Stock Market" I like it that Trump seems to have the ability to drag in people who hate him in an effort to solve problems.

I’m one of the biggest critics of government and the globalists, but is it possible that a Chinese lab got careless with a virus they were studying and it created a pandemic and that it’s not some government conspiracy to keep us all in chains? That maybe these guidelines are the best answer to a problem that has no immediate solution? “Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.” -Sigmund Freud

Heres a few I pulled out I have some more in the safe but there all basically the same lots of DU ones as Dad was a huge DU supporter and never missed a meeting, dinner or fundraiser and went to them all over the USA. I know nothing about knives. The Japanese one he got me back in the 60s I believe. the military ones were his when he went to Nam and japan. I have a few more K-bars he brough home for me when I was a kid and a few if I recall green handle? bayonets. I got a ton of old bucks I have beaten up over the years that were bought for me as birthday gifts, always left them in the truck or packs, the black cased one in the picture I got snowed in hunting in the cascades, ended up leaving that and a watch a 22 rifle and some other stuff when I hiked out and left my bronco there. got the bronco about 3 months later the knifes and other stuff I found the next spring

Fire ban isn't a forest closure. If the only reason you go to the forest is to build a fire stay home and build one in your back yard.

I guess I’m getting really tired of giving up something “in case of”...seems like we are being conditioned that way more and more now a days. Rant over.
