The old dam was masonary and crumbling so back in the late 80's the Bureau of Reclamation put out a contract to reinforce it with concrete which required it to be raised 23 meters which also increased the span. It increased the lake capacity by roughly 20%. If it were to be allowed to fill to the brim everything as far as Jakes Corner would probably be under water. I worked on the project for the last two years which took longer than expected and was millions over budget. The project only had one fatality toward the end and OSHA shut it down for a few days. I don't know if either spillway have been used as the lake has only been to capacity once about 10 years ago. So yes 3' from full is a long ways from the top of the dam.

Been eyeballing these little beauties for years but was held back buying one due to the $1,500 retail price....made by BOSSKI in Caldwell, Idaho.....they make a tandem axle version (much bigger) and a couple of utility open dump bed designs as well for hauling, etc. Here's a link to their products: Bosski Built One popped up locally for $300 on FaceBook and I was fortunate enough to be the first to respond. The unit was built in the late 90's but other than needing a fresh set of tires and a gas shock support for the lid it's in great shape!! Decided to upgrade to a 4-ply tire instead of going with the stock 2-ply.....since I hunt/camp in rough areas and sharp rocks are brutal on tires. Would have gone with more ply's but the 25x12x9 size limits what's available. The unit can handle up to 800 pounds of gear and weighs in at 215 pounds empty. Overall length is just at 7' from the tongue to back of trailer and the overall length hooked to the quad is just at 14' Biggest challenge is coming up with a way to secure the cargo/gear to keep it from bouncing around. Will try different size bins but do not want to drill holes for tie-downs because the unit is pretty much water tight and I don't want to compromise that. Look forward to getting out and seeing how it does camping/hunting as spring weather approaches.

Isn't it ironic that so many parents have to stay home with their own kids now that they think teaching is incredibly difficult. These parents are probably the ones who have raised their little snowflakes up thinking they are special little angels and these kids are disrespectful little terds in school. I wonder how many parents that are sitting at home having difficulties with their kids are actually thinking about their parenting decisions and the fact that teachers are having a tough time because the parents have failed to instill discipline and respect into their kids. Many parents are going to get a dose of their own lack parenting while staying home with their own brats. I think many teachers would enjoy their jobs more if the kids actually respected them and had the discipline to do the right thing in class.

Absolutely! And now, do you notice the media saying.....”we haven’t hit the peak yet, wait 2 weeks”. Then 2 weeks from now, they’ll say.....”well, we haven’t hit the peak yet”. They told us back in late February that by mid-March the hospitals will be overrun! So they keep moving the goal posts to continue the panic. The media is playing a very dangerous game with the American people.

Does anyone believe the numbers from China? 2 possibilities... They are lying and have not updated any of their figures or they have some protocol for treatment. I have been to China many times, there is no way the US is some how ahead of China in cases, deaths etc. The whole reason they had this outbreak is the environment is a perfect setting. Millions of people stacked on top of each other, poor air quality, poor sanitation in, open air market culture, the list is endless. Last rant... our media, all of it, leads with how the U.S. is now leading in the pandemic, U.S. is not prepared, U.S. does not take health care seriously. I guess it works because most people have never been outside of the U.S. okay I feel better. 😂

We are doing our part for social distancing. But swine flu infected 1.6 billion people on earth and 61 million in the US and killed 13,000 in the US and 250k-500k in the world. Why did no one know about this? Life went on. We are no where near these numbers right now. I just find this Ironic and strange. Let alone the 55k people who died this flu season in the US. I believe 99% of us will be fine. But again Im doing my part and also staying away from my parents.

The closure order is not overly clear, but I just called the Flagstaff RD. The Coconino NF's website spells it out very clearly, too. Developed campgrounds, day use areas, visitor centers, heritage cites, and some hiking trailheads have been closed. The rest of the forests are open for hiking and dispersed camping, including the upcoming turkey hunts. The currently closed forest roads are anticipated to be open by early/mid April, which is standard procedure every year, weather dependent, of course. And, yes, groups of more than 10 appear to be banned for now.

They've closed the restaurants and bars... if they close the forests and lakes I will commit Harikiri! I need my social distancing to occur outside of my house with my wife for God's sake!
