8 pointsTook two of my boys out Friday morning in the nasty wind and rain- was pretty chilly glassing at daylight - but we managed to find a group and me and the youngest were able to put two down and an hour latter drummed up another and not to be outdone by his little brother , my other son was able to get one as well . the crazy part was - it had been shot before - we didn’t know until skinning but The right bullet is my sons 243 - the left bullet appears to be a 22, ..... the “22” bullet just went through the skin and mushroomed against the shoulder blade - no telling how long it has been in the pig just under the skin - zero penetration - My sons bullet went through the pig from the opposite side stopped just under the skin before exciting - both bullets were touching and appeared to be one bullet when digging them out . But as we dug them out could see they were actually two bullets . His new and an old one .

5 pointsMy 300 ultra with 210 bergers have killed over 25 elk in the last 10 years from 25 yards to 870 without any problems at all. IMO you hit too far forward with your bull quartered away that hard. No way you were going to hit lungs. My .02 I know there are many bullets as good or better but the Berger does just fine with good placement.

3 pointsCan't say I disagree with you (great bull btw). My thoughts would be your shot seemed perfect but then the video shows was quartered away from you (at least that what it looks like from the video, not sure of the camera had a different angle than your shot?). If the shot was quartered away, then that shot becomes more difficult in my opinion. Again, I don't dispute the importance of the ammo, I just think sometimes there is so much information out there it can make peoples heads spin and you end up over analyzing. Just find a good bullet and know your limitations, maybe that's what I was trying to say. And by the way I don't consider myself an expert marksman and I've missed my fair share of game, I just wanted to offer my humble opinion LOL.

3 pointsI am sorry you have to deal with this. Sadly the young man was likely going to find a way to checkout one way or another. Its' you dilemma that he crossed your path on his fated journey. I for one am glad you shared, it makes me consider selling any handgun through an FFL and get a background check, never would have considered that before but your experience has been sobering to say the least.

2 pointsOther websites?? You mean not coueswhitetail.com? Are these other sites you speak of part of the pornhub network?? I’m confused right now.

2 pointsChecked my email today...... I hope I don’t get what she says she has. It’ll make elk hunts horribly itchy!!

2 pointsCongratulations to him! I’ve never shot on with a .243 that didn’t have an exit. How was the meat where the old bullet was?

2 pointsYa, it's a drag. The current incarnation of this outfit has been blocked/flagged. Unfortunately, there is no way to permanently ban this type of thing because IP addresses are dynamic and continually changing. Thanks to those who sent alert notes. My normal routine is to login pretty early each morning, but I was busy with 'day job' stuff and was off my normal. S.

1 pointI understand, but $250? Like I mentioned, the bottom off brand 16" build from the cheapest source was $269 less a stripped lower. I'm extremely frugal but $250 was just a little rude. A base lower end complete and built is typically worth at least $350. This has brand named parts, not the cheaper ones. You make my frugality look like frivolity. That's quite an accomplishment! One person posted a generic AR15 for $650, later dropping it to $550. I would have paid only $375 for it, but this one is different. Probably worth more than what I would want to give but I seldom offer what others are willing to give. I'm not saying you are a terrible person. I'm just saying that your bid was extremely low and truthfully a little on the rude side, even for an AR15. This site in general has not been kind to AR15 sales, and perhaps we should be a little more polite. Maybe you were just poking some fun, but even so that "bid" could be considered offensive. Let's play nice in the sandbox together and everyone enjoy life.

1 pointHope the kids don’t read how you are inviting people over to fight about it!

1 pointThis much outrage over the forum it is posted in??? 🤦♂️ Sorry birddogg21, I try to be pretty respectful in here, but the most extreme thing I see posted in this thread are your comments. There are real problems in this word, including some poor kid taking his own life, and the OP facing what could turn into a serious situation. I think we could cut him some slack about something as trivial as his forum choice.

1 pointCan an admin move this to the campfire please. There’s way too many youths in the classified section buying guns, they don’t need to see this.

1 pointI think to truly learn the craft of stalking game, you need to ditch the radio. Your hunting senses and patience will grow as a result. The sense of wind direction will become second nature, picking out the bush the deer is under will become better, stalking skills increase....etc......you will adapt and the feeling of accomplishment will multiply exponentially. Having someone to guide you to the animal creates a crutch.....your relying upon directions instead of your own brain to figure it out. You are smart enough to grow the senses on your own. Does it mean you may not make a kill for a couple years? Maybe, but that's just part of it....(the painful part) I do however like to have a spotter for after the shot if possible......I have recovered two animals that would have been worm bait if my buddy had not seen where he went from up high above us. One was a clean shot and he still ran 250 yards and disappeared from my view, the other was a not so great shot and he went 1/2 mile, but my buddy saw it all from above. My radio was off until after the shots, then I called with a WTF just happened? Best of luck

1 pointWe had a blast, from the begining all the way to the end. Laughing all the time We crossed the border and like always no issues and very easy. We made it to the ranch. Arnie wanted to make sure his rifle was still zeroed in after his airplane flight...to make a long story short, after 7 or 8 shots at the paper plate guess what? A decent buck walks by the target and Arnie takes him can you believe that??!? Target shooting and a nice buck walks by the target! 😫 😊 Arnies with hes nice buck! On a different area of the ranch, Clayton made a great shot on this beautiful buck My buddy Kyle was after a very big buck that he and Clay had glassed about 1000 yards away. He did not know that the ridge where he glassed the buck was the same ridge I was on. I did not know that the buck he was after was only 200 yards from me. After talking to him on the radio I told him and Clay to move and hike the knoll what was infront of them so they can see down and have a better position to shoot the buck. The buck was at the bottom of the ridge or canyon. While I was waiting for them to get to the top of the knoll, I glassed the top of the ridge infront of me (same ridge where the buck they were after was) and OMG!! I saw a giant buck walking from left to right! I felt like if me eyes open wide open! Big main bean long tines I wanted to shoot that buck. I knew right away he was a shooter! I ranged the buck at 530 yards. While the buck was walking I kept saying, please stop, please stop, stop buck the buck keep on walking until he went into a little draw out of sight. I knew Kyle and Clay where going to be in a lot better position than me becuase they were going to be able to glass that draw were the buck desapeared out of my sight. I inmediately called them on the radio and asked them, are you on top of the knoll? We just made yes we are on top of the know they responded. Please I told them glass the top of the ridge infront of you, the ridge that is on the same side where the sun comes up in the mornings. Do you see on the top of the ridge the two tallest trees? The trees that rise above all other trees? Yes they said, -ok, a very big buck just walked 20 steps below those two trees; he was walking from left to right please glass that area and look for that buck it looked really good I told them. Like 30 seconds later they called me on the radio and told me Ernesto, yes we found the buck. Ok I told them if you like it Kyle, shoot him. Kyle and Clay were looking at the buck through the spotting scope and were trying to decide which buck was bigger, the one they were trying to shoot or the buck I just told them where it was. Whyle they were looking at the buck on the phoneskope the buck turned his head and they said at the same time double droptine! double droptine! Kyle inmediate jumped towards his rifle and got in position to shot that buck. Clay call me on the radio and told me, Ernesto, we are going to take that buck, its 350 yards from us, I told them, take it! Here is a picture of Clay and Kyle just moments before taking the shot.. And here is the result of a well placed shot After eveyone got their buck, now it was my turn to get a buck. On the last day of the hunt, around 4 pm or so I got this one What a beautiful hunt with great people, great friends. Waiting for the next January is going to be brutal on my....I can't wait for the next hunt. Stay thirsty my friends! Ernesto C.
