5 pointsI finally got my login working on here again so I thought share my 2019 buck from early November on the general rifle hunt. Long story short I ended up missing a good buck on opening morning so I was irritated about that until we found this buck. My wife and stepson both killed their first bucks this year so it was a good year. I like the pitchfork he has on his left side.

3 pointsI'm not terribly thrilled with the photos on my camera, and there are probably 200+ photos on the other phones and cameras that were there with us. I want to take the time to write it up properly in it's own thread with the best photos, but for now, a few of my current favorite photos are at the bottom of this post. 🙂 No, it wasn't that ram. He disappeared. Honestly, the ram she killed might score a little better. The photo I shared in that other post was that ram's best angle. (The power of the Internet when you want to show off 🙂 ) He was gorgeous in just about every way, but didn't have the mass her sheep has. Plus, we never saw him in person. Her ram has very nice bases and carries it all the way through. I never saw her ram on any cameras or while while scouting--though he was with two smaller rams that I did have on camera. Everyone is absolutely thrilled.

2 pointsWell, I couldn't hold out for long. My best scouted ram is down. Not the biggest or oldest in the unit, but my lifetime desert bighorn was taken at 8:30AM on my 33rd birthday. Most of my hunting partners, as well as my dad and brother all had a heavy, contributing hand to make this one special. More to come, but for now..

1 pointFilled my 2019 tag yesterday. Glassed him up on a hillside in the afternoon following a doe around. Took him at 350 yards with my 270. To date he's the best buck Ive ever taken. Going to get him mounted for sure. Glad I decided to take Friday off rather than go to work.

1 pointHey guys! Been a while since I’ve been on the forums, but I wanted to share my 2019 buck this year! This is a buck I found in the summer of 2018. Saw him in July scouting and got 160yd of him opening weekend of early archery. I didn’t see him again the next two weekends, didn’t see him scouting this year when I found out I drew the late tag, and didn’t get him on camera at all. This years hunt comes around and I packed in enough food and water and winter clothing for a 4 night backpack hunt. Get camp set up early Saturday morning, top the ridge to my area and the hillside is covered in deer. A couple good bucks, a couple small bucks, and a few does are milling about and this guy I dubbed Mr. Eyeguards from 2018 is in with them pushing everyone around! Spotted them at 500yd, moved in to 350yd and then had to wait him out a few times as he was either behind a tree, skylined, and once he even topped over and I thought I would lose him. He finally came back over and stopped quartering to me and I put one shot through his front shoulder. My 2019 hunt was done in just a couple hours! Velvet pics are from 2018, he lost an extra on his right side. He’s my first rifle buck, first time filling a tag on day 1, first time getting a “target” buck, and my biggest buck so far!

1 point***SOLD PENDING FUNDS; THANK YOU***Very light, handy, and fun little rifle. Scope is a Leupold VX-2 3-9x40mm with LR dot flex, set in 1" Talley rings. Includes the pictured soft case. Purchased this about 6 years ago to help my then-little kids transition to centerfire rifles and medium game hunting. Took a javelina a mule deer with it. Has about 300 rounds down the pipe. Had some fun with them Duracoating the barreled action, stock, and scope, then applying some extra texture/color to the stock with some spray paint patterns. Kids are all grown up now, and this girl doesn't get shot any more. So hoping it can find a new home. Would make a great walk-about coyote rifle. If interested, can also include 180 rounds of hand loads consisting of 65gr Sierra GameKing BTSPs over some H4895, moving ~3000 fps (load data on the boxes). $550 face-to-face in the West Valley area. No trades, please.

1 pointWe were ready to tough out the weather on Friday. We didn’t realize visibility would be near zero. Friday afternoon after the weather cleared a little we glassed 11 bucks and a handful of does. No shooters. Next day we hiked in a ways and after spotting small or young bucks we found 2 shooters. Classic scenario, waited til they bedded then made our 2 hour stalk and they weren’t there anymore. Started glassing the surrounding areas and spotted this buck just 248 yards away and buddy decided he was a shooter. The crazy part was that 30 seconds after he died a bunch of ravens showed up and landed in the tree above him.

1 pointI was fortunate to take my ram mid day on December 2nd surrounded by friends and family. Special thanks to my dad who scouted for me and burned miles of roads and glassed for hours.......As you all know, it was the hunt of a lifetime. He wasn't the biggest ram out there, but he is perfect to me. Sheep slow motion.xspf

1 pointid rather just find someone else to hunt with on their tag than use my points for a poverty elk hunt.
-
1 pointI don't look at the draw odds at all. I put in for where I want to hunt and pray I get a tag. If I don't either family or a friend will draw something and I will be hunting. There are also so many other things to hunt in this state that finding something to chase is not all that hard. We counted it up yesterday and I have been on a hunt every weekend since august, except 4 weekends. That's 8 deer tags, 4 different hunts. One antelope hunt and 2 elk tags on 2 different hunts.

1 pointCow tags are a little different when it comes to odds.. I would take 1 early 23n tags over 20cow tags.. Just me

1 pointIt’s been a minute since I’ve been on here but this forum definitely used to be one of my favorite places for recent success photos and any help I needed when it came to hunting AZ. It’s been tough to find time to hunt for myself lately but I finally had a few days to get out and chase desert bucks with my bow. My buddy glassed this buck up with some does and we put them to bed. I made my way to 45-60 yards of the deer bedded and waited for the buck to stand. Things got a little western but the buck stopped broadside at 65 yards and the arrow found its mark. Grateful for good friends and the opportunity to take this neat buck.

1 pointWanted to share an opening day buck I took during the October central Az coues Hunt. Enjoy and good luck to all the coues hunters still out there.

1 pointI remember watching Carson one night when Lee was the guest. They were talking about WWll, and Marvin said That Bob Sherran (sp) or Captain Kangaroo was the bravest man he ever saw, said he was directing troops on Iwo Jima taking fire and still standing there.

1 pointHonestly, I don't know how people pass on a great animal, unless you have personally laid eyes on one better.
-
1 pointI passed this guy at 270 yards this morning. It was very tough to pass after a dry fire and everything. He was very buggery before and after his 30 minute bedding session. Hope I don't need to relocate him later in the hunt because I won't get a better opportunity!

1 pointI've posted these before, but since you asked. These are from our 2007 12AW hunt. Four bucks in three days up high in the summer range during the late hunt. The live buck is mine before I shot him. Good luck on your hunt!
