9 pointsAs I lay here in my tent, Mr. Buddy heater on low, 6" of snow surrounding us, camp 75% packed up....well...what can I say. Taylor is a badas$. We packed up Tuesday night and headed to Kaibab Wednesday morning. Rained the first 4 hours of the drive until we hit The Gap. We were ready for a 12 day mule deer marathon. Taylor was so excited to finaly be on the road.... The rain held off just long enough for us to set up camp, then started snowing. We tried to get some scouting in, but it started snowing hard enough we couldn't see 50 yards. So we headed back to camp for some dinner and a good night's sleep. Thursday morning, snowing up top, raining down low. Scouted down low, saw a couple "end of season" bucks tending does. Went up top in the afternoon, and battled the snow. Saw 3 more "end of season" bucks, but a lot of deer. Lots of smaller bucks too. With 2 minutes of "legal light" left as we were heading out...we saw an "opening day" buck. Only about 26" wide, but really tall, good forks, good mass, and a nice 6" sticker on his left antler off the G3. He would be our goal on opening morning....or so we thought. Opening morning showed clear skies, 19°, and snow covered hills above 7000'....and fog. Made glassing more than 100-200 yards impossible. So, we left the location we had seen the big buck for later, and went to a spot that has produced for us in the past. Got there just as the sun was breaking, and glassed up one of our "end of season" bucks and passed on him. I walked out on a point to glass some canyons and started picking deer out, from 200 to 2000+ yards away. Found a decent 4x4 @ 1575 yards, but across 7 or 8 canyons....no thanks. Found a 1 antlered 3 point, and I swear I saw 2 lions hightailing it. Couldn't get a good look, but definitely not deer running like that, and light tan. So back to the truck, and fog had burned off by 8:00. Decided to drive back and look for the big buck. On the way out, I was glassing every finger and cut....at 8:40...."there are some does.....ooh. And a buck. You might want to get out for this one....and grab the rifle....yeah, grab the rifle for sure." I range him, "430...dial 1.5MIL. He is moving....454, dial 1.7MIL. He is quartering away...he stopped...put one in him." BOOM! "He is down! Great shot!" We watched him for 10 minutes without so much as an ear twitch. Got landmarks, grabbed the packs, crossed two canyons, and definitely no ground shrinkage when we got to him. 5 hours of exhausting pack out. At the check station, they measured him at 31" inside spread, 33.25" outside. Taylor made short work of the late season, getting her buck about 1.5 hours into the hunt. And topping my biggest buck I have ever taken too. I am so proud of her, for the hard work she puts in shooting, for the positive attitude, for wanting to spend time with me, and her being such a great kid. I thank my wife too, for putting up with the time and money I put into hunting. And most of all, I thank God for allowing me my health, my wonderful family, and the beauty and the creatures he put on this earth.

2 pointsI would go (I hate to say it) with a 6.5 Creedmoor. A 6.5SLR is real similar to a 6.5CM. And Taylor has been slaying some game with hers....sneak peak from today...454 yards.

2 pointsI’ve read the hype about 3c. Spent very little time in there except fishing and shed hunting, but I honestly can’t say I’ve ever seen a pic of a big big one that came out of there? Like 200 plus? I’ve looked at the guides websites up there and they claim it as a 180-200 hunt but honestly of the dozens and dozens of bucks I see on there pics very few break 170 and most are 150-160 bucks. Fine bucks of course, but curious if I’m missing something. You can shoot a buck like that every year in MT, WY or CO. Curious why someone would burn a dozen points on it?

1 pointHere is my 2019 Az strip mule deer. It only took me 19 years to draw the tag!! This was one of the best hunts I’ve ever had! Mostly because I was able to share it with my girlfriend who was there for the scouting trips and the Hunt. She was so excited to be there and watch me take a buck of a lifetime! I couldn’t have done it without her! After finding out I was diagnosed with cancer and had surgery a couple of months ago I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to make the hunt. She was there every step for me!! This Buck is OUR buck!!

1 pointHave several Single Basin and a couple of Double Basin Stainless Break Room Sinks. Pulled out of various Tenant spaces over the years. Some have faucets and some don't. Would make good wash sinks in a shop, garage, loading room, etc. Was selling, but at this point I'd just like to get rid of them. Anyone want a free sink?? Also have two Bedside Top of Rail Delta Boxes. Functional but not pretty. You want them, they are yours.

1 pointWe went out opening morning and saw a few small bucks that she decided to pass on. We got set up on a hill to glass for the evening and the wife glassed up a coyote and then 2 bucks not to far off the coyote. After looking at the bucks with the spotter we made a game plan to get in range of the deer. Once we were close to where we had referenced the bucks we jumped them up at less than 80 yards. They trotted off over into the next small wash. We hustled over to try and locate them and saw them walking through the trees. I set her up and she made a perfect 210 yard shot and dropped this buck. She is super happy being her 2nd ever deer. I think I was more excited than she was haha. And of course the kids were excited to see moms deer they had to get pictures with it too.

1 pointWOW! Congrats to both of you! Great write up. Kinda wish it would have taken longer just so we could read about it. That young lady can shoot! No buck fever and quiet determination. You are blessed my friend!

1 pointI just returned from a great trip to Kodiak. It is my 2nd trip to Kodiak and of course it did not disappoint. 1st rule of Kodiak- Give yourself plenty of time before and after the scheduled hunt for weather delays Thankfully ours was minimal but one group was waiting to fly for 4 days because of weather. 2nd Rule- Bears are no joke. I saw probably over 20 brown bears in 5 days with 7 in one day and a giant 8 1/2 foot sow and her cub at 40 yards. Standing up on her back legs and growling, making lots of noise and staring holes through me. No rifle and no backup gun. Dumb on my part but I was pressing to kill my buck before dark. I made a 48 yard shot on on a bedded buck, he ran 20 yards and tipped over, I held low since he was bedded down and almost missed him. But caught the lower part of his heart. I was by myself in bear country at almost dark. I didn't take to many pictures and hurried out of there. 3rd Rule- Sitka are pretty easy to hunt except the terrain they reside in. Couple of the guys in our group shot bucks at under 10 yards with rifles. Thanks to Jason for setting the trip up and inviting me along. He did all the work I just showed up. We flew into Kodiak on Friday night, Saturday morning the weather was good enough for us to be dropped by charter plane into Larsen Bay. Our Transporter picked us up and we busted it to an area to get hunting that afternoon. Everyone had the opportunity at bucks, but not a lot of real big mature bucks. It rained almost all day everyday with a few broken clouds we capitalized and took a few pictures. I get seasick, I know I do and tried to prepare but still ended up getting seasick toward the end. The boat captain tried real hard to keep the boat calm during the night, which they did. It was dead quiet and calm most every evening. My 2 goals were to take a big buck with my bow and to catch some fish. I only got sick the days I stayed on the boat and tried to fish in the deep water. My buddy killed two bucks with his rifle Quite a few guys caught a bunch of halibut, but I was so sick I wanted to get on land and hunt. could have shot a few solid bucks but nothing bigger than I already had. photo credit of the boat with rainbows to Jason and Tony. My buddies 2nd buck, last day. screen shot from video of a pretty big bear Buddies first buck they are pretty deer. Real heavy hide with lots of fat. I'll try and rotate our salmon limit Lingcod

1 pointI picked up a new 6.5 PRC and the last 2 boxes of the 143 ELD-X ammo on the way out of Sportsman's. I see that the 143 is hard to find in stock and I am not a reloader, yet. I have someone I work with that reloads the 6.5 PRC but he is a busy guy. My question is do I transition to the 147 Match stuff, or order bulk in the 143, or see about my coworker loading for me or take up reloading in my garage. If I start reloading, I realize there is little $$$ savings, but more control in what I'm shooting. I'm hesitant to reload due to the initial cost, but am willing to consider it. Anyone start reloading and have any opinions? Thanks for any info.

1 pointThe graveyard is by the canelo hills quite a few miles north of parker canyon lake. There is this graveyard out there, there is a small white building that you can see from highway 83. Its out in the more open country not really a lot of dense brush. Lots of deep washes though hard to spot and stalk through. Its the only name I have heard for it. Anyways the only bucks that I know were killed out of there were spikes.
