3 pointsI was able to harvest this FREAK bull Saturday with the help of Jimmy Mullins and Jeff Wright. Watching the two of them work together was amazing. They had me in bulls all day Friday and Saturday morning. This bull was bugling and Jeff stayed back about 30 yards and Jimmy and I slowly crept forward until we could finally see the bull. Jeff let out another bugle and the bull began thrashing a tree. He quickly turned and started walking towards Jeff. I was there to bring home a typical as close to the 400 mark as possible. Jimmy knew that and told me he may not score the highest but what do you think about freaks?.................. I had about 5 seconds to make a decision and when Jimmy stopped the bull in the only small opening we had I tapped my release. The shot was true and we watched him tip over only 40 yards away. Finally putting our hands on this bull was incredible and then to find out we had a picture of him back in June was even better. Enjoy the pictures and if you ever get a chance hunt with Jimmy and Jeff, they truly make magic happen out there!!!

3 pointsThe difference between back east and western hunting is most people only have a small plot of private to hunt. Using bait as an attractant to get them onto a place to legally hunt is commonplace. Not saying it’s good or bad, that’s just the way you hunt. Anyone who’s watched the Nuge knows he won’t be found more then 20 yards from a tree next to a corn pile.

3 pointsOh he has got the ethics talk...like 3 years ago when he did same thing in 3A/C... that's why I dont hunt with him! But this is not just this guy, but hundreds of others doing the same thing in other units. Talked to a guy in the archery shop before the hunts who was bragging about shooting 6 bulls on his last hunt in 5A... wonder how many he has shot this hunt? The reason I bring these up, is because G&F needs to hopefully calculate this into their numbers and this might explain some of the declining elk numbers...

2 pointsRan into this little bear yesterday on my way home from shooting. He wasn’t shy that’s for sure.

2 pointsIts not always large snowfall that moves them down. If there is several hard freezes up top and their browse freezes several times, it will lose its nutrients. Does will leave first. If Rut hits that will bring down the Bucks. Usually the Bigger ones last.

2 pointsIt really has't mattered on any other forest or county. They take comments and then do whatever they are going to do.

1 pointI was very lucky to be able to get this awesome buck. Got lots of good pictures of him as he grew. Scored 130 0/8 with the 2% velvet deduction he was 127 3/8.

1 pointI just wanted to say that I have only been on this site for about a year and a half or so but I have been on MM since it 2001. This site has a group of people that are cordial and usually very respecting of what is written. Not too many arguments. It seems on MM every post has some moron write a stupid reply to get someone pissed off. I know some of you guys dont hunt muleys but all I am saying is that a site can be brought down quickly with idiots. I hardly ever get on MM anymore once a week maybe. Hopefully this site can keep up the good posts and pics and keep it real, nobody likes to read a post from a jacka%%. john

1 pointWelp, after reading up on nutrition and health, I’ve discovered how incredibly good for you bone broth is. I’ve been really influenced by dr axe’s book, “eat dirt.” now I feel guilty about all the bones I’ve thrown away over the years. I’ve always considered the meat to be the best part, but now I’m not so sure the bones aren’t better. So this year I decided to make organic bone broth out of my deer bones. We’ll see how it goes. But in any case, waste not, want not.

1 pointFound a bow/case/gear scattered across a road in an elk unit. Obviously bounced out of a truck/UTV and looks like the case was run over. Let me know when, where, and what and we'll make sure you get it back. Sorry....hope you had a spare and it didn't mess up your hunt!

1 pointI called today and the guy was basically like "Go ahead and cancel if you want." after offering me a lesser package than what I currently have.

1 pointOne of the best posts I have seen on this site in a LONG time!! Thank you Stanley!! Good luck selling your dog dude.
-
1 pointWhile I like the Nuge, I think it's funny that in a state a bit smaller than AZ, that has 20X the deer population, they feel the need to bait deer.
-
1 pointLots of guides and outfitters in AZ will do a custom scout package. Good luck I hope it was a reputable entity.

1 pointI didn't know a service as such existed here in Az. When it gets closer and if you haven't herd anything from him let us know. Plenty of people on here will help you I'm sure. Maybe the dude is out elk hunting or something.

1 pointUgh...... As a mod on the site, I try my best to bite my tongue and not reply to stuff to add fuel to already stinking fires. Can't help myself here though! (Sorry, Amanda!!) In my opinion, this post is the epitome of the negativity that for some reason tends to consume a fair number of posts around here. Dude simply posts up that he wants to sell a dog. 99.9% of those of us who don't care simply ignore the post and move on to something that interests us. .1% feel some need to comment and question the person, and someone else comments on that. Result is a member vs. member game of verbal ping-pong with absolutely ZERO value. Zero value to the original post, zero value to the first non-interested party who felt the need to comment in the first place, zero value to anyone else who piles on to the debate, and definitely zero value to this site. God bless the internet!🙄 To the OP, sorry for the temporary thread hijack and good luck selling the pup! S.

1 pointFrom field to table: Tonights dinner is BBQ Pulled Canadian Black Bear. 1. Season bear meat with salt, pepper, and granulated garlic 2. Sear in a frying pan or on the grill. 3. After searing, immediately place meat in a large pan with salsa verde or green chili. 4. Cover with foil and place in the oven for 20 hours at a temp of 170 degrees. I know it sounds like a long time, but it makes the meat so tender. 5. Take meat out of the oven and shred it. I use forks which typically work the best for me. 6. Place shredded meat into a crock pot with your favorite seasoning and BBQ Sauce. 7. Heat on low for approximately 4 hours and it will be ready to serve.

1 pointSince you wanted a 400" typical, I'd say you failed miserably... Pretty freaking awesome consolation prize though.
