3 pointsI find it funny that the start of elk season always makes me think about the upcoming deer hunts. Is there really a better time to share a coues video than the day before elk season??😄 Elk suck! Coues are da best! Hope this gets some of you excited about the upcoming deer hunts.

1 pointI already posted these pics in the other sections, but I thought I would try to revive this section. My wife got her first pig this year all while using a handgun for the first time. I was able to fill my Wyoming Antelope tag with my 6.5 creedmoor pistol. I never thought I would like pistol hunting, but after having some success I'm looking forward to more handgun hunts.

1 point*Listing for a friend. These rifles can be purchased in Phoenix, Casa Grande, or Tucson* I have 2 Tikka T3X Lite rifles (blued finish) for sale. Both rifles only have one box each (20 rds.) through them, just for break in. (shoot, clean, shoot, clean etc.) Both rifles include the one factory plastic magazine that came with them. All of the original boxes and packages for the rifle and build items is included. Both rifles have the Tikka “more” vertical grip installed and will also come with the original grip as well. Both rifles have the Yo Dave trigger spring installed and trigger set to 2lbs. (The original Tikka spring is included as well) Tikkas have very crisp factory triggers, very easy-user adjustable. Both rifles are mounted with Talley/Tikka LOW 30MM rings, and the Talley top half anti cant scope level is installed and plumbed/leveled. The Leupold scopes still have the free CDS coupon to order the Custom Dial System turret from Leupold for whatever ammunition/load you decide to use. Both scopes have the Factory Alumina scope covers installed. And also have the Leupold neoprene scope cover. The formidable Hornady Precision Hunter factory ammunition shot very well in both rifles (SUB MOA). I have about a case of each (9 boxes) if you are interested in purchasing this ammunition too. The 162ELDX 7RM $35/box The 143ELDX 6.5Creemoor $30/box Both shoot sub MOA (like all Tikkas do) - They look identical except for the different scope models and chambering’s. These will make for great long range hunting rigs for anyone who got their favorite tag this year! Listed below are the build details. The 6.5 Creedmoor is $1500 OBO. The 7Rem Mag is $2300 OBO. The 162ELDX 7RM ammo is $35/box. The 143ELDX 6.5Creemoor ammo is $30/box PLEASE NOTE: BOTH RIFLES WILL ONLY BE SOLD THROUGH A LICENSED FFL DEALER. 1 pointThis deer is not a monster but I just got him back and he is my first whitetail. The main reason for this post is to publicly thank Morgan Zimmerman of Patriot Precision for building me a rifle I could rely on. I hunted for about ten years with various rifles and was unsuccessful. Morgan built me a 6.5 x 55 AI that shoots “lights out”. I highly recommend him if you are looking to build a custom rifle. JT

1 pointWell after 20 years of applying I was able to hunt the famed Strip this year. It turned out to be everything that I would have hoped for and came home with a buck of a lifetime. Can't thank my buddies at Shadow Valley Outfitters for helping put in the leg work prior to the season starting when I couldn't be up there. Now that I got this out of the way I can get back to hunting Coues 😀

1 pointThought I’d share some of our success in 13b this year. It was a phenomenal year for antler growth and we’re sure looking forward to the rifle hunts. Good luck to all with tags this year.

1 pointCongrats, can't wait to see pics. Meat soaking in water/blood isn't good for long periods of time. I been aging my buck for almost a week now, I just keep replacing ice and keep the drain cracked open to let it fluid drain.
-
1 pointLooks like your out of ice, you should keep the plug pulled so the meat isn't soaking in bloody water. Congrats on a kill.
-
1 pointPut some metallica on and be done in 2 hours. Plus buy a roll of butcher paper and double wrap your product and be good for 3 years in the freezer. Congrats on your kill.

1 pointHey men, I thank you all for the input. It is a great looking area with lots of hunters. What is new? Just call the right bull on the right day and then worry about the heat. Congrats on a beautiful state. How do these guys afford these quads that cost more than my house in TN. I am not intimidated about the hunting but I dont have a vehicle to hang with the four door extended cab quads. To the gentlemen that wanted to come in and bugle a bit I would be interested in spending some time with you guys to help speed process of getting away from a few guys. Not to proud to sit out front. I am sorry that I waited this late to get info to the guy that got on me for waiting to late. But I have been rebuilding Gatlinburg since the fire in 2016 and wasnt sure I was even going to get my 2 weeks until 2 days ago when I got in the truck and drove out of TN. I wish I was blessed to have a schedule. But the same freedom that allowed me to guide in OR,and ID for years is sometimes slavery that keeps me from making long term plans. Hey men thanks for all, I used to be a big part of East TN fishing website and did not realize how much our experience helped the big tournament guys when they came in. You all have helped me a bunch. If anybody wants to hunt a few days give me a call 865-850-6620 I am in Kohls ranch lodge for a few days until I figure out where to camp. I will be in Payson at big O tires getting new tires on a brand new dodge tomorrow (opening day) since 7 miles from the end of asphalt I had the plug kit out and pumping the goodyear factory tire up. Luckily I figured the tires would be cut down and I had the plugs and pump in the cab. But it is hard to pay a grand for new tires on a truck with less than 5000 miles on it. So I came with factory. Thanks David (Burdy)

1 pointAgreed. My wifes deer last year was glassed at daylight and 5 hours later of methodically closing the distance she made a clean tri clawps 300 yard shot when he climbed out of his tree. Turn the page to my hunt jumped my buck out of thick stuff and offhand 100 yard ish shot. No click click click stuff on my rifles. They serve a purpose for some(like kuiu and flat brimmed hats) and i apreciate the guys like Lance who do the work and know when NOT to shoot that long shot even though the gun can. This thread is gonna go south fast like all the others, but a good topic.

1 pointI was back in Oregon for the long weekend and a family reunion of sorts and was able to talk my uncles out of some great old photos of some of my grand parent's trophies. This photo came with a fun story. My grand parents were pretty competitive with there outdoor activities and the photo shows a great day for both of them. My grandma kill the biggest mule deer either of them had kill early in the morning. Not to be out done, later that day my grandpa topped it iwth the really nice 4X4. No one could tell me who killed these two blacktails but the kid in the back ground is my uncle who is now 64 years old so the picture had to be taken over 55 years ago. The crazy thing is it looks like tags on their antlers but I have a hard time believing they issued tags that long ago. Can any one give me an idea of how old this one is? I'm guessing over 65 years ago. My grandpa is the one on the right. The body on this deer is huge!!

1 pointA coues with a glock has to be some kind of record. Let alone a giant coues! Count me impressed!
-
1 pointTook this buck at just under 40 yards with a Glock 23. He never took another step.

1 pointA couple years ago my then 14 year old son wanted to kill a pig with his revolver. Made me proud how much he shot before the hunt and somehow managed to shoot the smallest pig in the herd.
