13 pointsManaged to be fortunate enough to get a tag and fill it...Tough hunt I was averaging 10-12 miles a day and 110 degree temps...Saw plenty of critters and had a blast when I did get to hang out with great friends...Got him Aug 27th and for those wondering it was a 100 yard facing straight on shot from my knees and the arrow went full length through the body and exited the rear...arrow kept going...thanks to those of you who gave me some tips on where to start..it was worth the effort for sure!!

2 pointsVery tough conditions, dificult hunt but I still love it! Believe me, better than be at work with 115 degree weather! Besides, I'm getting no younger and only God know if I will ever draw another tag here in AZ. So to make a long story short, I'm still enjoying this hunt, made a beautiful shot that my buddy Hector got on film, by the way, a very special appreciation to Hector for helping me on this great hunt. Is very nice to have him at camp/hunt making it fun and enjoyable. A special mention to Phil Cramer for giving me some pointers on where to go and look for antelope. Here it is, I love it! 2 pointsI got permission from Amanda to run this thread. I realize it is a shot in the dark for anyone to be interested in this raffle but figured if one person bought a ticket it is one more ticket sold! Most of you through the years have seen me post pictures of my son Cole. After spending two years in Detroit on his mission he is finally getting to chase one of his passions and that is wrestling at the college level. I have included a few pictures from hunting, a link to his state championship match and information on the raffle for $2000 grand prize! Cole has already sold his quota required by coach, I'm just promoting to try and help! If you do choose to buy a ticket for $100.00 Please indicate in the space provided that the wrestler you are sponsoring is Cole Mortensen! Thanks everybody for reading and putting up with us. Jeff This match was 2016 senior year! Link to purchase a raffle ticket! http://www.totalcamps.com/westerncoloradowrestling

2 pointsGod is good!!! The first few trips out this hunting season were less than stellar in productivity, but I was able to enjoy the country I was in and the company I had on every trip out. Yesterday evening after getting off work at 2:15pm my buddy Brad and I hit the sticks for an evening hunt. God blessed me with great company and very good help as well as a nice archery coues deer. Thank you brad for all of your help it is very appreciated!!! Hadn’t chased coues in over 10 years since I had moved away from Tucson and couldn’t be happier with getting this buck my first few months back.

2 pointsQuick update on our trip. Working out some discrepancies with the boat so I'm not posting many details yet. All of the boats arriving at the docks Friday night were pretty dismal with not many fish caught. The bite appeared to have shut down. We started slow on Saturday with only 9 fish on deck all day. Moved south all night into Sunday morning. Got right into them at first light and scratched all day picking up about 100 YFT and a handful of BFT. One small dorado the whole trip. Last hour of light on Sunday I picked up a 50# BFT. Ended up being the biggest fish we caught. Night fishing was dead. No squid in the water. Tried different jigs and flat irons, not a single bite at night. Great trip and great crew but not going into details until we get things straightened out.

1 pointFor sale a Colt New Frontier SSA in .357. blued, 4 1/5" barrel. According to Colt's web site it was made in 1963. There are some marks on the under side of the barrel by the ejector rod. Tried to show that in the photos. There are also some turn marks on the cylinder. I don't know the round count but does not appear to have been shot much. The owner passed away about 20 years ago and it has been sitting in the safe since then. I feel that he was the original owner. I don't have the original grips. Original style grips are about $60 online. I have not shot it but it seems to function and lock up well. Average price on Gunbroker is $1695 I'm asking $1400, FTF in Tempe or N Phoenix area. Sorry in no trades. I will be in Flag this weekend (13-15) Thanks for looking Paul text 602-821-3460

1 pointMy hunt started around 6 weeks ago when my son and I decided to hike some cameras and treestand into some remote country. A couple weeks after that him and a friend dove in and checked pictures and hung another treestand for me. We had several really nice bucks hitting his stand area and a couple good ones at mine. We could not head in until opening morning so we spent the first 3.5 hours of friday hiking into camp. My son passed up a decent buck that first evening as I sat around camp recuperating from the hike in. Day 2 my son missed what he called a giant and from the scouting pictures if it was the buck he thinks it was he is right. On Sunday morning I shot my best archery Coues buck as it is my only archery Coues buck. After a few more chances we packed out after 7 days spent in the Az back country. The trail cam pic is one of the bucks he missed (we think).

1 pointEarly in the season is tougher for sure. At least from what I have observed. I do not spend much of my time in the deep canyons so what I have seen more whitetail bucks in December and January. Right now, I can find WT does super easy right along common roads, but the bucks don't show up until closer to the rut.

1 point3B north has been quite a ride for the last 25+ years. trophy pronghorn(not anymore) and just giant cedar bucks have always taken me back out to mesa redonda and black mesa. but almost every hunt something happens to give a me a high end pucker factor. once in 4a i had come back to camp and found where a bear had followed my trail out of camp that summer morning. but in 3b i came back to my jeep and found where 2 big sets of boot tracks had circled my jeep and then trailed me out onto black mesa. i have seen more 300lb burros out there than the rest of the state combined. i'll take you out there and show you around but this old feller is never going out there alone in the dark agin. every single 200" class muley shed i have ever found came from 3b north. the neighbor and his buddys used to rope lions out on black mesa and mesa redonda back in the '50's n 60's. lee

1 pointIf you get your rifle shooting off a bench where you want it, and then practice every shot that you might take in the field with a distance that your comfortable with, if nothing else it will up your chances IMHO. If you check out Big Browns story about his Antelope, he stated that he practiced for 4 months and had never shot better in his life, and Mr. Lance Kenyon has stated that he donates 7 bucks at Ben Avery every week. Maybe they were just lucky on their hunts, but I think not.

1 pointI was delighted to hear the POS wouldn't shut his mouth when he came out and was quickly tased. Me and a couple others test and coat the control boards on these Axon T7's used exclusively by LE. Hope it was one of mine lol.

1 pointI completely agree. I am not the best at anything hunting related, but I think I have better calmness and awareness then many. I jumped 2 4x4's in 12ae last year on the early hunt. I had to make some adjustments to get a shot. I ranged them first thing at about 212 yards. I tried to use a dead tree as a shooting rest but it started to sway. I dropped down to use a downed tree as a rest, and my 40lb pack tried to suffocate me so I had to get it off. I got back on the deer who were moving away and they were trotting off. I wasn't going to take a moving shot, but I waited on them. I think disappearing behind the tree surprised them. And they would stop occasionally to try and see me. They stopped 1 time to many. I didn't have time to range again, but I knew they were probably about 250-275 so I held a touch high knowing my rifle was sighted in about 225. It only took 1 shot.

1 pointHad a great hunt in Unit 31/32. Saw several nice bucks. Had #1 slip us and could not locate him. Passed on several bucks trying to relocate him. Saturday located this buck chasing a doe and keeping a smaller buck away. I would like to thank Steven Ward, Jeff and Colton Wheeler, and Joe Madril for being a great team. Also like to thank Lance Kenyon for helping me setup my new Christensen Arms Ridgeline 6.5 CM with Leupold VX3i 6.5x20 LRP.

1 pointWell, I shot my buck Friday morning about 10 minutes into the season. During all my scouting, I never saw a buck that made me say "Wow". Combine that with leaving Wednesday for my elk hunt, the God awful heat and the fact that the opener would have been my dad's 81st birthday, I really wanted to shoot one the first day. I saw a couple that were a little bigger than this one but he was decent enough. And best of all, he hung around in a very stalkable spot. I put him to bed Thursday evening and was back before light Friday. Sat drinking coffee waiting for it to get light enough to start out. They were hanging out in a spot that was just over the rise of a gentle slope the last time I saw them Thursday so I slowly moved in that direction. I was getting close so I put my pack down and continued on. I was keeping an eye out, hoping I would see them before they saw me. Well, they had moved into the bushes above and to the left of where I thought they would be and I actually passed them without seeing them. Next thing you know, I see does trotting along the fence about 150 yards away. I saw the buck coming along behind. Of course, he stopped behind some brush. I moved a little closer and I think a doe must have seen me. The does started trotting again and I got ready as he went behind another bush. The grass and bushes were so tall I had to shoot offhand. He came out on the move and I let him have it. He went down but I hit him a little back. I put another one through his shoulders as he tried to get up. I didn't realize he was all busted up. A fighter. Broke off the prong on his right side and the tips were broken off on both horns. Decent mass and right at 14" long. Now....on to elk. Forgot to mention....shot him with one of my dad's rifles also. Winchester Model 70 in 7mm WSM.

1 pointThey said 10-15#. I honestly would’ve said they were a little smaller then that just based on weighing freshwater fish I’ve caught over the years, but they’re dense and rounds so maybe they weighed that much. Here’s a pic.
