Very tough conditions, dificult hunt but I still love it! Believe me, better than be at work with 115 degree weather! Besides, I'm getting no younger and only God know if I will ever draw another tag here in AZ. So to make a long story short, I'm still enjoying this hunt, made a beautiful shot that my buddy Hector got on film, by the way, a very special appreciation to Hector for helping me on this great hunt. Is very nice to have him at camp/hunt making it fun and enjoyable. A special mention to Phil Cramer for giving me some pointers on where to go and look for antelope. Here it is, I love it! I'll keep it short and sweet. Turns out, it was actually worth the decade long wait for a tag. I had a blast. Got to spend some quality time with my brother which is too rare these days. Almost killed a really good buck the first afternoon. Got to 45 yards from his does but he decided to run off a smaller buck and not come back for hours so I crawled back out and left the does bedded. Turned out to be a good thing because the second day I found my target buck and was able to slip an arrow in him. I was able to creep into 160 yards unnoticed and then spent the following four hours stuck laying on the ground covered in stickers and trying not to melt. They eventually gave me an opportunity to get to 70 and I made the most of the oppurtunity. I didn't get to see him fall but my brother Cole got to watch him flip just out of my sight. He was with 3 does back in a shallow canyon that isn't visible from any roads. He was 3.6 miles as a crow flies from where I first found him in July. He's beyond what I could have ever asked for. I shot him in the that unit that I'm hearing doesn't grow big bucks anymore so I got pretty lucky. I got the very last tag so it must have been meant to be. I feel like I shorted myself only hunting two days but I couldn't pass this buck. Not in a million years could I have passed this buck. Thanks for reading. Creed.

God is good!!! The first few trips out this hunting season were less than stellar in productivity, but I was able to enjoy the country I was in and the company I had on every trip out. Yesterday evening after getting off work at 2:15pm my buddy Brad and I hit the sticks for an evening hunt. God blessed me with great company and very good help as well as a nice archery coues deer. Thank you brad for all of your help it is very appreciated!!! Hadn’t chased coues in over 10 years since I had moved away from Tucson and couldn’t be happier with getting this buck my first few months back.

After ranging twice I settle my 3rd pin (sighted exactly in at 45 yards) on him and I release. I hear the thump of a hit. I notice a smaller buck running along side monica as chaos breaks loose, like I tried to assassinate the president. Bucks are running everywhere. I keep an eye on monica making sure I dont lose site knowing he/she will go down any second. I go to where I shot and look for my arrow. Nothing. no blood. I go to where I last see them and find a piled up deer and say to myself finally. I look at the horns and go where is the rest of it. For a fleeting second I wont lie to you and say I didnt consider going after the big buck. Apparently when I ranged the second time and the seconds it took to reaquire the target the little guy stepped in front of his dad enough to take an arrow to the face. I sat there reminiscing over the past couple of weeks. the bucks I missed, passed and seen and just laughed. Here is my monster strip buck. Hope you guys enjoyed the ride. the ending wasnt what I expecting either.

That could very well be the case. I just know what I was able to find in four days of scouting and I wasn’t impressed and didn’t see anything that made me want to keep the tag. This was the first time I had ever scouted for an antelope hunt so I’m sure there are guys out there that know where to look and how to find antelope a whole lot better than me. I’ll take it as a learning lesson and use it next time I have a tag.

This buck Josh killed was the 4th biggest we had scouted. A couple were considerably bigger. Here's a couple other pics of him....
