I'll keep it short and sweet. Turns out, it was actually worth the decade long wait for a tag. I had a blast. Got to spend some quality time with my brother which is too rare these days. Almost killed a really good buck the first afternoon. Got to 45 yards from his does but he decided to run off a smaller buck and not come back for hours so I crawled back out and left the does bedded. Turned out to be a good thing because the second day I found my target buck and was able to slip an arrow in him. I was able to creep into 160 yards unnoticed and then spent the following four hours stuck laying on the ground covered in stickers and trying not to melt. They eventually gave me an opportunity to get to 70 and I made the most of the oppurtunity. I didn't get to see him fall but my brother Cole got to watch him flip just out of my sight. He was with 3 does back in a shallow canyon that isn't visible from any roads. He was 3.6 miles as a crow flies from where I first found him in July. He's beyond what I could have ever asked for. I shot him in the that unit that I'm hearing doesn't grow big bucks anymore so I got pretty lucky. I got the very last tag so it must have been meant to be. I feel like I shorted myself only hunting two days but I couldn't pass this buck. Not in a million years could I have passed this buck. Thanks for reading. Creed.

Thanks to an invite from an old High School friend and my Brother-in-Law's (both residents) willingness to go with me, I was able to finally get my first grizzly in AK. This was a hunt my Dad always wanted to go on, but never got the opportunity before he passed away. I used his old model 70 .338 Winchester that was handed down to me, because it only seemed right. I was actually able to connect with a great interior Grizzly and as an extra bonus I tagged out on a nice black bear boar also.

Why wait for tomorrow. Plenty of Eurasian out today. I averaged 1 bird per 8 shots today and only got worse as the morning progressed. šŸ˜¬šŸ¤¬

Round two starts now. I got my shooting issues taken care of. I have decided to go full nomad for the next ten days solo. I will not set up a camp. Wherever I end up is where I will sleep. I also brought my overnight backpack if the situation arises. Headed to dellenbaugh so I will post as service allows. This is will be interesting

The Rifle is a model 94 Winchester in 25/35. This was the first rifle that my grandfather bought and the only one he ever had. He bought the rifle in the Prescott area, this deer was also killed with this rifle in the Prescott area. Pretty cool to have both of them, I can only imagine the miles that were walked carrying this rifle. I even have some of the original boxes of ammo.

Went out the other day solo and shot this nice bore. Shot was like 250 yards and saw him run into some thick brush. I worked my way over to try find him and after looking for a bit I wasnā€™t doing any good. It started to get dark so had to make a few phone calls to have some buddies to come out to help track and pack out. He only went about 40-50 yards in to some thick stuff. Looking for a bear at night by myself was a little sketchy so Iā€™m glad I have some good friends that came out and helped.

All day in a treestand is tough.. thankfully this guy and a buddy showed up around 3 on Saturday. Came into water at 32 yards, 100 grain montec to the heart and he was dead 50 yards later. He needed about two weeks to finish off and he mightā€™ve broke the 100ā€ mark but Iā€™m happy nonetheless.

My season lasted a little over a half day. I got into my blind at about 7 am. Didnā€™t have any action until about 10 am, when a doe came in. After she left, nothing went on till just about noon when a two point came in. After that it was a steady stream of deer, couple spikes and does, till 1:30. I had about as much of the heat as I could take. I never had been so hot in a blind. I was wringing wet with sweat. At 1:45 I had enough. I got all my gear ready to go and took one last scan out of the blind to make sure I didnā€™t miss something. I looked up the hill and here came a big buck down the trail a long with a 1x2. I scrambled to get ready. The buck came right in front of my blind at 15 yards and was quartering away. Drew, settled my pin on the last rib, and released. The arrow it exactly were I aimed. The buck ran up the hill and stopped then walked off. I didnā€™t like the reaction of the deer so I gathered my stuff and went back to camp. Decided to give the buck two hours. At 4:00 I started on the blood trail. Not much blood. A few drops here and there. When I got to where I last seen him, the blood quit. Slowly I followed a few tracks and a couple broke limbs. 40 yards later there he was piled up. The arrow hit the last rib and came out on the back edge of the opposite shoulder. What an amazing day for a great buck! Brian

An unreal number of hiking miles later I put everything together and shot one of the two bucks I was chasing. I actually missed this buck opening day in heavy winds. Had too much drift and admittedly, I was nervous and blew a quartering away shot. I hunted them for 3 more days and finally connected. He didn't get 50 yards after the shot but I couldn't see him, so I sat forever waiting him out I'm excited to say the least.

Was out this morning shooting Eurasian at a place that is historicly 95% Eurasians. I saw and had to pull off of quite a few whitewings, probably more than I expected. The way I was shooting, I doubt I could have hit any of them anyway.

Do you happen to have any of the Active all plastic shells? I really like those. Simpler times, like breakfast at Smittys for under $2!

I drove out today "scouting" (God, I can't believe I spent $20 in gas to do it šŸ˜) North of Phx in the desert. Just wanted to find a spot 2 of my brothers and I could go out for a couple hours and shoot a few birds and BS with each other. We have another brother who isn't doing too well with Leukemia and we're realizing we better enjoy why we can. Talk about hunting dove in the 70's , we would go to "the stockyards" at 40th st. South of Washington. Fun memories

Update- and I hope this post helps someone down the road. The stalling appears to have been a mix of the tbsp sensor and a bad plug wire. The previous owner had bent a plug connector 90 degrees for whatever reason to go on the plug. New plug wire seemed to take care of the issue.
