An unreal number of hiking miles later I put everything together and shot one of the two bucks I was chasing. I actually missed this buck opening day in heavy winds. Had too much drift and admittedly, I was nervous and blew a quartering away shot. I hunted them for 3 more days and finally connected. He didn't get 50 yards after the shot but I couldn't see him, so I sat forever waiting him out I'm excited to say the least.

I'll keep it short and sweet. Turns out, it was actually worth the decade long wait for a tag. I had a blast. Got to spend some quality time with my brother which is too rare these days. Almost killed a really good buck the first afternoon. Got to 45 yards from his does but he decided to run off a smaller buck and not come back for hours so I crawled back out and left the does bedded. Turned out to be a good thing because the second day I found my target buck and was able to slip an arrow in him. I was able to creep into 160 yards unnoticed and then spent the following four hours stuck laying on the ground covered in stickers and trying not to melt. They eventually gave me an opportunity to get to 70 and I made the most of the oppurtunity. I didn't get to see him fall but my brother Cole got to watch him flip just out of my sight. He was with 3 does back in a shallow canyon that isn't visible from any roads. He was 3.6 miles as a crow flies from where I first found him in July. He's beyond what I could have ever asked for. I shot him in the that unit that I'm hearing doesn't grow big bucks anymore so I got pretty lucky. I got the very last tag so it must have been meant to be. I feel like I shorted myself only hunting two days but I couldn't pass this buck. Not in a million years could I have passed this buck. Thanks for reading. Creed.

Round two starts now. I got my shooting issues taken care of. I have decided to go full nomad for the next ten days solo. I will not set up a camp. Wherever I end up is where I will sleep. I also brought my overnight backpack if the situation arises. Headed to dellenbaugh so I will post as service allows. This is will be interesting

You fought wolves? Is this Liam Neeson from "The Grey"? And that sucks that you have had to use crows to find downed game several times. All that meat gone to waste.

Passed on the only elk I’ve had in bow range on the first morning of my first elk hunt. Had seen a much bigger bull the evening before, but also wasn’t confident in the steep downhill shot in timber. I told myself I wanted something bigger at the time, but every time I think about it I’m glad I didn’t force that shot. Not a regret, but a definite “what if?”... edited to add...I’d take that shot today, both from the confidence standpoint and he was definitely a bull I’d be proud to shoot.

I've never been a "how much does it score" type. Thus, I would shoot it without hesitation just for its uniqueness. I killed the 3x3 buck below in Colorado because of its symmetry and the unusual little devil points in front of the main beams.

They said 10-15#. I honestly would’ve said they were a little smaller then that just based on weighing freshwater fish I’ve caught over the years, but they’re dense and rounds so maybe they weighed that much. Here’s a pic.

I checked my Map60CSx and didn't find it after searching all the menus. I have never really mastered it anyway and only use it to mark waypoints or find me way back at the end of the day.

I provide the trailer and my guests do the cooking. Lol The only meal I cook is elk steak with a fried egg on top with ranch beans and potato salad. I hate cooking.

That guys is clue less. Our murder rate is half his quoted number, and we are not in the top 50 countries in the world for mass shootings/murders. There are 7 developed counties in the world that have a higher number of mass shootings than the US and none of them allow their citizens to own guns. The majority of our violence is also concentrated in the largest cities, if you remove NY, NJ, Chicago, New Orleans, LA, DETROIT we drop to third in the world for murders. thats number three from the bottom or lowest murder rate in the world. Brazil took away firearms from the public and their murder rate almost doubled. Its about 65,240.
