I’ve killed a pile of critters on my “own ability”, including the mountain goat in my avatar, two shiras moose, 10 bull elk about 50 deer and a dozen buck antelope. I’ve had some excellent hunts with guides and some awesome hunts on my own. If logistics would have allowed it I would have loved to do it on my own. I had ten days away from work. It’s a two day trip one way so that gets me down from 10 days to 6. I weighed the options and a plane ticket and guide was cheaper then gas and time off for me in this case. I read your story and you killed an awesome bull. DIY is obviously much sweeter but in this case it didn’t work for me.

I’m looking for someone to work a 2-10:30 pm shift Monday thru Friday in an assembly shop. Entry level position. No skill really required other than common sense and basic hand tool skills. Bi-weekly pay, 401k, health, dental and vision after 60 days. Shop is located in Phoenix by the airport. Let me know if someone is looking or knows someone looking. Looking to hire ASAP.

Sorry about your daughter. Hopefully it wasn't to serious. Did the dog make it out alive? I would have to restrain myself if my dog ever went after my kids.

Shurflo. I use one daily for concrete cutting. They last for years. Any rv store has them on the shelf.

As I have enjoyed this site for many years now I have recognized different approaches people use to sharing their stories and information and talking about all sorts of things. Sometimes I agree sometimes I don't but I thought this little verse had some pretty solid info! Old Farmer's Advice: Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong. Keep skunks and bankers at a distance. Life is simpler when you plow around the stump. A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor. Words that soak into your ears are whispered... not yelled. Meanness don't just happen overnight. Forgive your enemies; it messes up their heads. Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you. It don't take a very big person to carry a grudge. You cannot unsay a cruel word. Every path has a few puddles. When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty. The best sermons are lived, not preached. Most of the stuff people worry about, ain't never gonna happen anyway. Don't judge folks by their relatives. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer. Live a good and honorable life, then when you get older and think back, you'll enjoy it a second time. Don't interfere with something' that ain't bothering you none. Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance. If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin'. Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got. The biggest troublemaker you'll probably ever have to deal with, watches you from the mirror every morning'. Always drink upstream from the herd. Good judgment comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgment. Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin' it back in. If you get to thinking' you're a person of some influence, try ordering' somebody else's dog around. Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and enjoy the ride. Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he'll just shoot you!

time to go fishing. took long enough. just a note on how to get a really good trip. for the experienced sticks like HEAT and Recurve, and others, and if you can roll within 24 hours-like having a very open schedule to get away-get your name and cell to the landings. let them know you can fill out a charter. usually a little more expensive but great groups and fewer anglers. chartermasters are always getting stiffed and the first place they call is the landing. might be with the pomona valley lady anglers or the 29 palms mp's or discount tire managers. never dissapoints. luck. lee wind some line and burn some gas boys 'n girls

I use this one every time we go camping, I have 2 50 gallon water containers that I transfer water to and from (one empty so I can move it) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HAPFBTC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 there are many like it, this model is not available on Amazon. I use my portable jump starter to power it, connect the pos / neg terminals to and it will pump a 50 gallon water drum in 3-5 mins.

I guess I can’t speak to doing your own thing because I never did. I flew down from ND so I had limited gear and no help (planting season at home so I couldn’t get anyone to come with me) so hiring Russ was the only way I could swing it. I thought he was very fair, the hottest salt was already being sat by non guided hunters and no attempt was made to rotate me into it by them (I wouldn’t have wanted to anyway as I missed opening two days due to family stuff) which I thought was admirable considering I got there late. They killed several bison off that salt. I ended up bumping bison one morning on my way into a salt but beyond that I never layed eyes on one. Met some great people and had a good time though. I drew a WY tag this year so I get another crack at them!

Hard to lift a 50 gal jug above an rv fill and the pressure works great to wash down meat (yourself included). Here is my pump. I mounted it to a board for ease of use.

I don't have my notes in front of me. Was researching 12V pumps for similar use and was able to do internet search for what I wanted. Ended up finding several highly recommend pumps. Short of a good recommendation search "Best 12V RV Water Transfer Pump". Good luck.

Sorry guys, 295 is all he scores. Good angle, good setup, sitting behind the bull and picture taken from a lower point on the hillside. I am not a professional scorer, but I am competent and run an honest tape. We spend a lot of time staging our animals for a good picture. Not trying to fool anyone, just wanting to have a picture that is as special as the kill.

The problem with taxidermists is they make half of there money without lifting a finger and the other half takes all the work. They like to take as many of those first halves as they can get and worry about the second half later. I’ve had to repo animals from two different taxidermists. One in AZ and one in OK that I made the mistake of sending an antelope with after a NM hunt. I’ll never again use anyone else then my guy in ND or Mogollon in AZ
