What a bunch of entitlement little socialist little girls. It's his money. This is how he choses to hunt. He contributes more than any of us ever will to wildlife. Why do you care how he has money? Can we all just look at that amazing animal and be thankful for the management practices that we have here along with the philanthropist like Mr. Gallo that make it possible for such an animal of this caliber to exist?

I killed my very first deer, a buck with 12" spikes, in the Catskills in 1960 with a Marlin 336 30/30.

I often forget how verdant the Catskills are.

Are you serious? So even though he has chosen to spend 7 figures+ in AZ helping wildlife, he gets bashed because he inherited the family business and isn't "self-made"? "Not that it matters much..." I don't think it matters at all! (His identity is no secret but I intentionally didn't mention his name.) Congratulations to him, on his incredible deer and all the other giant animals he has taken in this and other states. I sure hope I fall into a fortune so I can go do the same.

IMO, Mr. Gallo is spending wisely.

Not that it matters all that much but because it was discussed so much in this thread... Mike Gallo is from the family that owns E&J Gallo Winery. He didn't build the business and from what I can tell didn't become CEO until some time this century. He's actually a grandson of the founders from what I can gather. Just wanted to point out that he didn't build the business, he inherited it. A little bit easier than being self-made... although that doesn't necessarily mean he's an idiot either.

If Mr. Gallo had come on here with an alias username saying he had a strip tag and was thinking of doing a DIY hunt, he would have gotten 86 responses and 85 of them would have been which guide he should hire and how he shouldn’t squander that tag without getting a guide, how big the strip is and how there aren’t giant bucks around every corner. Now for some reason he gets flamed for hiring a guide....

You should spend more time in the libraries on the yachts of the mega-wealthy guys you associate with.

These are very cool old guns. Made in the 1920-1935 timeframe. They are marked 44L (Largo) which is the 44-40. I haven't fired it but I've cycle ammo through it. $650 located in south Tempe area.

Thanks. It's been fun. When it comes to killing I don't mess around.

I disagree, I have a strip tag and 90 percent of the people I've talked to have made no mention of guide or outfitter

I know a few people who have done it. I was not impressed with their skills after taking the class. I think you would be much better off to find a local taxidermist who would be willing to show you how over a reasonable time frame. You cannot learn how to properly mount an animal in a week.

Dan and Davie's tape measure or Art and Saxton's if they were killed with bow are the only tape measures that matter. I'm with Adam, Fake News! A bunch of drama over antlers is ridiculous to me, ymmv.

The Mullins clan are top shelf. Every single one of them. Hence why Jim was my first and only call when i drew my unit 9 archery bull tag.

Sometimes the trophy is not measured in inches, but on effort and the experience. Congrats on your archery bull.
