I went light and fast(er) in my 6.5SLR. 130 OTM @ 2888. Very similar retained velocity and energy at 900 yards as the 147 ELD-M @ 2685fps. 45" less drop, but 3" more drift in a 10mph 90° full value wind, reduced TOF too.

I'm no help, because they all sound good to me! I like Democrate Destroyer, but that's probably not a great pest control name:) Maybe Border Brothers pest control.

Fact, especially below IH 10. Coues populations would be decimated...

our game populations and all other local wildlife, especially in the desert would take a huge hit without cattle ranchers and the water they provide.

How do you feel about a new program to allow the slaughter of wild horses and burros? That alone would improve the entire spectrum of wildlife here. They are invasive species and need to be culled for pet and human food.

Was sorry to read this post Wagges, your way off base concerning AZGFD, USFS and ranching. I’d like to invite you to join AMDO next Saturday, August 3, for a conservation project on the Two Bar Ranch near Roosevelt. You’ll not only be working along side of AMDO volunteers but with off duty AZGFD and USFS employees as well. These folks volunteer their time and efforts for the sake of Arizona’s wildlife Are these agencies perfect? Of course not. Can they improve? Surely. If Sportsmen and Women want to have a say about how our public lands and wildlife are managed respectfully, we need to fully support these agencies. “Conservation is a Team Effort”. With your comments in respect to Cattle, rotational grazing has been instituted for many years on public lands. AMDO actively pursues partnerships with the ranching community, they are as concerned about habitat and wildlife as any of us. Ranchers are out daily checking waters and monitoring habitat, they are our “Eyes and Ears” when it comes to wildlife conservation on public lands. If not for ranchers we certainly wouldn’t have the wildlife numbers we currently enjoy. I do hope you will consider joining us next Saturday, you’ll have a front row seat to see how ranchers, wildlife groups and government agencies work together for wildlife. Like brand new JJ trailer, only used on one hunt in Nov 2017. Comes with telescopic ramps, three extra bed extensions, lantern post, 2 water racks, propane rack, cooler rack, kitchenette top. Paid over $13K in 2017, asking $9,500. Up until recently this has been garage kept, Trailer is currently in Silver City, NM.. . Thanks for looking! Dan

Tikka T3 lite in .300 WSM and be done with it. Top it with a light weight quality Leupold, load it with 185gr Bergers at mag length and you can shoot 700 yards all day long and tackle all the grizz you like. Or, spend thousands of dollars on a custom rig that may or may not shoot any better and be only a couple ounces lighter. I hate super light rifles. They are hard to hold steady, recoil is always an issue and the cost is generally outrageous. There are lots of areas to shave weight besides the rifle. Trim up the pack and the gear and turn ounces into pounds. I would much rather carry a rifle that I am confident in than one that is marginally more comfortable to carry.

Good Grizzly cartridges start with a 338 and go up, a decent minimum would be a 30 cal. magnum and heavy stout bullets.

For the money and right off the shelf the Tikka is very hard to beat. I have messed with lots of the higher end factory rifles like the Christensen, Cooper and Kimbers. I haven't seen them do anything better than a Tikka that costs half as much. The Tikka will easily be a half moa rifle even with off the shelf ammo. I have yet to mess with one that hasn't shot extremely well. I would drop the $700 on a Tikka and put the rest into a nice piece of glass and skip the lower end glass bit and just be done with it. With a little bit of work, the Tikka can be truly amazing. Here is a five shot group of a load I worked up for a factory off the shelf Tikka T3x in 6.5x55. No bedding, no trigger, just bone stock.
