Sure, I’m posting this on the 2nd of July but July 2, 1776 was the day when the Second Continental Congress passed the resolution of independence which severed the legal ties between the U.S. and the monarchy of Great Britain. In fact, John Adams thought July 2nd would be the day recognized and celebrated as our Independence Day. The day we celebrate our independence, however, is the Fourth of July. As we all learned in school, that’s the day the Declaration of Independence was signed. Basically, the Declaration of Independence was a statement of the reasons why the Continental Congress passed the resolution of independence. (Because it was Congress, there was a fair amount of debate, negotiation, and compromise to reach the agreed upon verbiage so it took them a couple days.) The final product was almost poetic. We all remember this part: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” To those of you who have worn the uniform of our Country, I thank you for your service. For those of you how have stood up for human and civil rights in order to make “a more perfect Union”, I thank you for your service. To those who have served in the legislature or answered the call to jury service or willingly paid your taxes (notice I didn’t say “happily”), that’s also important service. Thank you too. I’m amazed that 243 years later, we’ve persisted with this crazy idea that “We, the People” can govern ourselves. One last interesting Founding Father fact. Thomas Jefferson and John Adams both signed the Declaration of Independence and both served as President and both died on the exact same day, the Fourth of July, 1826. Fifty years, to the day, from the day they signed the Declaration of Independence.

We next need the backpack tax so the hikers will contribute to the outdoors as well instead of only hunters and anglers bearing the bulk of the burden. Well boaters and target shooters do as well.

3 pointsI have wanted to post this for a while and now that we wait for the new draw results, I thought I would share and reminisce. After completing the 2019 deer draw application for my son, this was the first time not being able to apply him for a Jr hunt. I now must come to accept my little man is becoming a man… and a great man at that. I could not be prouder of him in many things in life, one being an outdoors-man. Over the years he has grown and learned from the countless fishing/camping/hunting trips we have taken. Last year he went out in style with the youth trifecta… successful youth turkey, elk and deer in the same year. This after many years of “successful tag soup hunts”, I say successful cuz I consider any hunt with my kids a fruitful adventure. Thank you for the memories buddy, now go make me some grand children to take hunting/camping… don’t tell his mom I said that , lol

3 pointsHave you picked out a new bow yet? A 400 bull shouldn’t be to hard to find, they are pretty much everywhere in 23N. You have done the hard part. Getting drawn that is. The last tag that I drew in a unit and it was in a unit that I knew I started going up in April looking around.

2 pointsNice bull. From what i’ve seen a lot of bulls are d@mn near finished. I would guess thay they start stripping velvet the first week of august this year. I bet we see some governor and super raffle bulls hit the dirt in the next few weeks

2 pointsMy brother in law will do side work. Without "throwing him under the bus"... he works for a local company that sells windows and does installs... but he has also done installs on the weekend, on the side. It's all he's ever really done as a career. he knows his stuff... pm me for info

2 pointsFor the money and right off the shelf the Tikka is very hard to beat. I have messed with lots of the higher end factory rifles like the Christensen, Cooper and Kimbers. I haven't seen them do anything better than a Tikka that costs half as much. The Tikka will easily be a half moa rifle even with off the shelf ammo. I have yet to mess with one that hasn't shot extremely well. I would drop the $700 on a Tikka and put the rest into a nice piece of glass and skip the lower end glass bit and just be done with it. With a little bit of work, the Tikka can be truly amazing. Here is a five shot group of a load I worked up for a factory off the shelf Tikka T3x in 6.5x55. No bedding, no trigger, just bone stock.

2 pointsNot my hunt, not posting pics. My daughter posted her and her bull on Instagram( whatever that is) and bet her boyfriend that some people would quite following her. Is that a real thing? 19 people quit following her, but one started, he was up on the hunt and his mother had a tag..I told her that those who quit following her were not worthy of following her lifestyle anyway. I hate social media.

1 pointI did jeld-wen from Home Depot. I had to special order every window, because they were not standard sizes. They were 20% off, but after special order I basically paid full price. It beat having to change the opening size though. Did all the windows in 2 days and worked on trim after my real job.

1 pointCabela’s used to take 72 hours to post from pending - & you couldn’t look up the pending without calling them . So you had to wait or call - NOW with the switch over to capital one- the pending is the first thing that comes up when you log in - & it’s posts to that file very fast after the charge . So you can see it really easy Now . Yes Cabela’s cards have been hit

1 pointSince I was a kid I was kind of mesmerized by these animals. I think it had to do with watching dances with wolves. When i moved to AZ and saw you could hunt them it became a dream hunt for me. Despite trying I've never even seen one alive. I'm not even sure if it's me or my wife who drew the tag but I am absolutely thrilled to have the chance to see one of these creatures up close. If im stuck in a blind for the hunt it will be kind of hard to pull the trigger because I wont wont the most amazing show on earth to end.
