They leave their crap lay around the house, sometimes its sharp and you step on it barefoot. They put holes in drywall, and they hide food near the table instead of eating it. Sometimes they use a toy toilet to actually go to the toilet and getting most of it on the floor. They hang on towel bars and toilet paper holders rendering them useless. They throw things in the house knocking pictures off walls, deer mounts come tumbling to the ground, full glasses of water get knocked off the table and glass shatters. they swear they showered and washed their whole body, miraculously they did it with dry hair. As a father you will learn how to remove and install a toilet that's clogged with a teenage mutant ninja turtle shampoo, or a toilet paper rod holder, or maybe even a full sized trout. Your never going to have a back on your tv remote control EVER again. Anything you own which is shiny will forever be covered in sticky hand and finger prints. They will peel one of the buttons off of your electronic gun vault, even after having there rear end smacked several times just for touching it. They will stand outside your door and say "daddy, wook" and you ask what it is and he says.. "its a boogey!", they will go to the bathroom with mom in a busy gas station on the way down to rocky point and run out naked pants down in front of all the other woman and proclaim "I pulls on my weiner wank" the whole time while hes manhandling his lil jhohnson. They will fall into the lake right after you warned the whole crew they will be punished if they fall in the lake. One day they might shoot a roman candle at their own 10 year old boys feet and yell "Dance Cowboy!!", maybe they will even steal a big old stack of porno mags and try to sneak in the house walking like the tin man with 7 of them stuffed under their shirt (yes, even I have been a bad child a few times, and yes I got caught). They will promise to use their bb guns safely but come crying when they got shot by their brother, ensuring their own a$$ beating as well as everyone elses. They will promise to feed the new guini pig but yet "Sophie" tragically dies when your little boys was "just petting it". But then one day you will come home from work and your little girl will scream with pure joy and excitement "DADDY!!!!" and come running for you to pick her up! They will crawl up in bed with you and snuggle into your armpit. You will see them catch their first fish or harvest their first game animal! These are the momnets I live for and they all make all the bad moments seem like distant memories. Even after 5 kids and having a business which pretty much measures up to a pretty stressful life, I can honestly say, I would not give this up for the world! Happy fathers day dads.

My achilles tendons are giving me problems and after spending $2350 for 1.25cc's in one tendon I decided it was best to just put in for bonus points and give them a chance to heal. I may break out the bow and do OTC. Tough decision but I need them to heal. Good Luck everyone.

It's with a heavy heart I share the passing of a long time cwt member and friend Mike Leas, aka GameHauler. He passed away June 14th at his home in Payson, Az. He lift behind two beautiful daughters, Dani and Linnea. I had the pleasure of making many good memories with Mike and the girls on many hunts. One of my favorite Topics Mike started on here was "Let's See Them Kids". My thoughts and prayers are with Mike's family and friends. TJ

Yeah, the habitat will come back better than ever. But the cliff dwellings and the orchard could be gone forever.

Just a BP across the board for myself this year. Got two youth elk hunts lined up, and helped a junior (20C Youth, 24B Oct or late Nov hunts) and a lady (36's) put in for their first deer hunts.

I like guns, contender barrels, and Leupold scopes. Would prefer partial trades over a straight trade tho. Mostly looking for some cash to put towards something else.

You know how to tell the difference between black bear scat and grizzly scat? Grizzly bear scat smells like pepper and has silver bells in it. Old Montana Joke. Back in my late teens and early 20's, I would spend plenty of time in the high ranges where Montana's grizzlies dwell. They'd come visit our camp at night. Footprints left around the tent told the story the next morning. I'd hear them wake me up in the middle of the night as I could hear their noses working double time right outside the tent. I'd usually end up falling back to sleep before they were gone. I'd wake up not knowing if I was dreaming about what I heard, but the tracks around the tent re-affirms my foggy memory. Back then, I'd never carry anything for defense. I'd just rely on the fact that there are hundreds of backpackers that will be spending nights up in these mountain tops all summer long and there is almost never conflicts in the summer. I;d pass others going the other way during the hike up and I'd pass others when I head out. In the fall bears attitudes change. Grizzes get so much more hostile and desperate in the fall. Now a days, I have one of my 444 Marlins set as a camp rifle shooting 400gr big meplat cast bullet at 1900 fps. Plus I have a Smith &Wesson model 69 44 mag 5 shot with 4 1/4" barrel shooting Buffalo Bore 330gr ammo rated around 1325fps, but I haven't run it over the chrony from my revolver. The round will rattle your teeth, but I can shoot it with either hand and only need one hand to shoot it. I'll eventually work up a load for my 44 mag using one of my own cast bullets.

Ban all campfires, smoking, and drinking and the only fires will be lightning caused.

I just got done reading thru this whole post. First of all welcome to the coueswhitetail.com site. When I first came to Az, back in the early 70s, I too was looking for information on hunting deer as a newbie. I just wish I had this site to get me started on my way. Second of all, you definitely have started in the right direction by joining this site. The info you have received here so far is from hunters who are sharing their experiences they have learned over their years of hunting. It doesn't get any better than this. This is what sets this site apart from all other hunting forums, guys wanting to help, and believe me you have a whole lot of good pointers from great guys who no what they are talking about. Good luck in the draw. If you don't draw 24B don't worry. There will be lots of great left over tags in the southern units with lots of good deer hunting. Not much to add from what has already been said. It's never to early to start scouting the unit. Even if you don't draw where you're scouting the experience of glassing and looking for deer will help no matter where you hunt. Good luck! 😊 TJ v

I go for shorter, more lymric and more of an anthem myself--not what you are going after but here is light version: It was the 3rd June in O'Three When a new he!! called us to be An evening of anguish as giant blooms fill the sky Not of the heavens but from a devilish guy The next morn brings hope until we see That the winds have stirred the flames like a hive full of angry bee The maelstrom has gone unwrangled How appropriate this Rodeo leaves everything in its path mangled The Lord once asked who shall I send, who will go for us The warriors respond like armies, including our leader who goes without fuss Lupe leads his men of courage Send one send all as we make a stand to steal this beast's forage Lupe and his men succeed Despite the wrath of the fire that only wants to be freed Lupe will go home to be heroic ever more To his native land, Apache to the core A year after this victorious fight We lost this man, full of might This tribute is to this great man Who gave his life for all in yet another stand

13a rifle or bust for me. I’ve got Utah and Nevada muley tags, muskox in Alaska, and Wyoming bison so it’s the first time in my entire life where I didn’t put a more realistic 2nd choice but I literally can’t make another tag fit this year. Unless it’s 13a rifle

Just read this on a facebbok page, is call arizona hiking, looks like the whole wilderness might burn, please read. Just got back from another Woodbury Fire meeting from Roosevelt. The news is not good, in fact I would say it is completely devastating. To make a long meeting short I will get right to it. Currently 0% containment and over 700 personal working the fire. As of right now they have stopped the northern movement of the fire at highway 88 and the Tortilla TH area due to the back burning that has been done there. They are continuing to back burn moving west towards Tortilla Flat. They have placed a sprinkler system around Tortilla Flat to try and protect it once the fire gets there. Also the owner of Reavis Mountain School (forgot his name) spoke for a minute and he is working with a crew to clear brush around the school area. Now the devastating news. Due to the extreme steepness of the terrain in the majority of the fire area they are unable to get crews on the ground to fight it. They also are not able to use air support without a crew on the ground in the area, apparently they work together. With that said the plan right now is to unfortunately let it burn until it moves closer to 88 on the east side and north side and comes off the cliffs on the west side. They have planned points on the east side on where they can start fighting it and are waiting for it to burn it's way through Reavis Canyon, Campaign Creek , Fish Creek. I have included the latest fire map. As you can see the fire has made it's way up Reavis Saddle and is closing in on the ranch. They advised that it took a couple days for it to move on the east side as the manzanita was so thick it did not want to burn originally, however it has dried out the past couple days and they expect the fire to start to accelerate through the Reavis area. I have circled the fire on the east side in pink coming up the saddle with the Ranch and Roger's Canyon Cliff Dwellings circled in green. After the meeting I spoke to the Roosevelt Ranger one on one and they are fully expecting the fire to take the Reavis ranch area including the orchards and are hoping the Rogers Canyon Cliff Dwellings survive the fire due to their height in the canyon. On the West side, they are also expecting it to continue it's movement and you can see on the map today the fire has now moved into Barks Canyon and is making it's way down La Barge Canyon to Charlebois and is moving into Boulder Canyon (circled in pink). On the south side the fire is sitting on top of Buzzards Roost where they may drop some water on it to stop that piece of the fire. The remaining south side end has been cold for a couple days (black line). They did say the fire will not be out until the monsoons arrive and they are predicting a later then normal start this season, looking like the end of July. I think that's about all that I can remember. Like I said beyond devastating news as we could be potentially watching 75% or more of the Superstition Wilderness burn in this fire. Like a lot of people here the Superstition are more then just a wilderness to me and words absolutely can not express how I am currently feeling.
