The road up to the high country opened. McKinley road to Wishon reservoir (7,000 ft ) in central Calif. Sierra Nevada Mt.s. (Courtright at 8,000 ft is still closed for a few more weeks) I couldn’t find anybody who wanted to hit the road at 3:30 am so I went up by myself, and was lines out trolling by 6:15 am. No size, mostly Rainbows between 11” and 17”, and one 16” German Brown. The action was non stop, I boated 43 fish, and lost a dozen more by 11:00 am.

Been trolling on this site for years and finally decided to make a profile. Drew a 35a Gould's tag this year with 14 bonus points. Set up this morning and had alot of turkeys talking all around us but nothing would commit in. At 7:30 we Decided to try another area and we found 3 toms together on the hill side. Made our way over there and found a single Tom by himself on a closer hill. Get over to him and bump him and he takes off. Took a chance and kept looking for him and found him walking around at 150 yards. Circled around him and we came up at the perfect spot. Ended up being a 10 yard shot. I know it will be years again but I can't wait to be drawn again.

I'll start my rant now since about 80% of the roads I use to get to my hunting spots in 22 and 23 are slated to be closed and one major area completely shut down unless you want to walk in 6 miles. I'm not against the closures but when I go hiking in and get passed by 5 to 10 vehicles, can I put just one bullet in each radiator that passes me? I currently abide by the MVUM maps but if the slim chance of a 100.00 ticket/access fee is all it takes to join the parade of vehicles down closed roads, I may reconsider hiking in and wasting all of that precious hunting time.

Originally, I just asked this question out of curiosity. But fast forward 4 months and I got super lucky and drew tag #5 of 5. So, I will be hunting them come September 6th....just so happens, it would have been my dad's 81st birthday. Good to hear there are some good bucks left in there.

As the immortal words that I once heard. Fair is a place a farmer takes his pig to win a blue ribbon, and finally if it was fair, Elvis would still be alive and his impersonaters dead.

First off thank you for your career path, Secondly, I am impressed with your financial wherewithal that you can retire after twenty five years. I am twenty years into my profession and have another 25 years or so before I can even consider it. After some research its not 62mil duecey expects to get from this fee, its 165 mil. I hope he shares with you guys and increases retirement benefits with the generated income.

We saw a couple big herds in December. Couple good bucks too.

I remember seeing them around Sunset point all the time. I bet I haven't seen one around there in 10 years now.

Drought and coyote in 21. I had one if the tags last year and it looked like they were coming back pretty well. Watched a few different herds and left a couple great bucks out there.

As long as they are high quality (I'd say Meostar/RazorHD up), 12s are the only way to go. Adam is just a little..... slow.

Not even close. 12s and a spotter and 100% set.

I respect law enforcement and abide by as many rules as I can. They’ve helped me before and scolded me before. But isn’t it their job to help the public? Paid by tax dollars, citizens protected by the 1st to voice an opinion. If a tax payer doesn’t care for dps it doesn’t make them any less worthy of their service.

AZ lance your just an idiot to think that DPS is AAA

Funny part is, this isn't just an Arizona thing. There have been multiple rescues in Italy and Spain where these prima donna types just have to go hiking in their flip-flops and end up stranded. That said, I'm not for shutting it down. If you get yourself in a pickle in there - like heck's Gate - deal with it snowflake. But don't expect someone on the tax-payer's dime to come bail your dumb azz out.

Thanks . The two high tans have a little bit of everything in them . Trevor Nelson and Hunter Dewitt spent years and years mixing and matching different blood lines . Then Hunter took it up another notch and bred a dog to one of Trevor mineers red ticks named faith which came from van johnson blood . The results on that cross were phenomenal. Those dogs are only 18 months old . That walker looking dog is actually a red tick and 10 months old. I bought his mom from a guy out of Nevada she looks like an English to me but was told she was a red tick . I picked up his dad from Trevor Mineer at about a year old . He was by far the best dog I have ever owned . Unfortunately I was chasing a lion and it decided to cross the highway . I could see on my gps they were headed toward the highway so I toned them and they turned around and started heading back . I ran back to my truck and started headed their way and lost gps signal . When I picked them up on the gps it showed all the dogs treed right at the highway . I figured the lion must not have wanted to cross . Well copper dog wasn’t about to quit that lion and had turned around at some point and Was hit by a car . I still get sick when I think about losing him. He was more than just a dog he was my friend and taught me more than I could have ever taught him .

Call me crazy, but as far as a hunting rifle goes, if someone could shoot worth a dang, what would the need be for a magazine that holds extra rounds?

It's been my experience that the kids that grow up with an agricultural background (i.e. farming and ranching) have a better work ethic than kids who don't. But I will have to agree, it is the parents who make or break the kid. If every dad would allow their son to spend a summer bucking hay we would have a much more productive young culture. And they'd be ready for football camp! Just my opinion.

I spend my life with today’s kids, almost daily. There is a lot truth in this post, but it paints all kids with the same broad brush. I know several who will bust their butts on any job available, but they are always busy working, not beating the street for a job. I also know a lot of entitled kids who are “too good” for that type of work. X-box and smart phones do play a role, but they are not a determining factor. Take a look at the parent...entitled parent, entitled child. Good luck Tony, hope you find someone soon. You might want to call the local high school, talk to a coach, or the front office lady, I bet they will send someone your way.

In my opinion it has nothing to do with Xbox or a cell phone and 100% to do with parenting and culture and big city culture. Growing up in a small town, we kids were always picking up side jobs and learning construction along the way. Parents nowadays don’t let their kids outside let alone go work a side job and parents put more emphasis on school and activities then they do on getting life skills through work experience as a teenager. I hope when my boys are old enough I have guys like Tony around to chew their butt and give them a chance to make a buck or two. Don’t blame the kids, it’s the parents.

I went to Colorado recently after years of not drawing an Arizona elk tag. This was my first time hunting elk and all things considered, I think it went ok. https://youtu.be/rMqONXi8EiU
