3 pointsEthics police, comin in hot. Give it to G&F so they can auction it. The millions in app fees plus the “education fund” and upcoming tag grab aren’t quite cutting it these days.

2 pointsTook a small hike to check a camera one last time before the mother nature drops the heat hammer. This is a new spot so I wasn't sure what would show up.... no giants but, I was pleasantly surprised. Its probably worth keeping tabs on.... On the way out, I stumbled across these little treasures.. always makes it worth the walk Its going to be a long summer. Thanks for looking. Dave

1 pointI had a unit 1 tag yesterday. in the morn had a bird roosted thought it would be a sure thing. Got there 1 hour early set up a decoy that I normally don't do, Bird is hollering away on the roost. Comes down and goes other way. . I followed and chased and headed off. We played till 9;30 ,Got a few of his hens to come in but he would stay 100 yards out consistantly. We went up and down hills over a creek zig zag . was an educated bird ,One of the toughest I ever had. Finally he quit talking and game over. He kicked my butt. I was sore mid day.Afternoon got windy I just slept against a tree hoping one would come thru . Nothin. Half our before dark I decided to move and try to roost a bird for next day. Tried about 5 spots ,nothing. Then at the last place I went where I heard one the night before , One blasts off hundred yards out. I thaught thats my play for tommorow as it is getting dark. I got off the road and much to my surprize He's closing distance. I grab the gun ,get set up and sure as heck He keeps coming. At 35 yards boom ,1 shot with # 4 pheasant shot he was down . Still legal shooting lite ,but getting dark I didn't think he would come . It was 7: 10 or 7 :15 PM. So easy and it made up for all the hard work in the morning I did. Talked to 7 guys from 2 other camps and nobody killed. I feel this was a lucky one, but it came from being persistant and not giving up and working till last minute of day. Never give up hang in there. I have allways hunted birds all day. Killed a couple Mid day and as many at nite as in the Morn. But the Morn is the funnest I think. The rest of the day is working it. Pics to come in an hour ,gotta go get more ice rite now. Finally ahunting story from me instead of Bullcrap. LOL..........BOB!

1 pointIA Born - you definitely have the background to speak as intelligently as anyone on the topic. I just find it an interesting conversation and I mostly spend time deep in the wilderness areas where cel phone service is not easily attainable. The InReach has been some of the best money I've ever spent and it has already saved my butt in a non-life threatening situation. I just don't like putting all my eggs in that basket and being in a spot that if I were to get bit, that thing better work or else... Delw - you and me buddy are on the same page! I'm trying hard to change my perspective on these dang things though. But I'm one close encounter every trip from having my head completely out of sorts and preoccupied with flippin snakes!

1 pointand people give me shoot for shooting out my truck window :) curl up in the fetal position under a tree and die. ;) Always wondered the same thing. now that I am older I tend to go out with others and never myself. Snakes arent the only problem, broken leg heart attack etc etc. last thing I want is to wake up with some yote chewing on me I tend not to think about it until I see a snake. if I see a snake I am done for the year.

1 pointI might divulge some secret spots but there ain't nobody that gets to see my "topies" except my wife! And I'm not sure what would have scared them off. I'm having a guy with a bobcat and his helper spread the rocks and the task I needed done right now is complete. Bright and early this a.m., I drove over to the nearby Home Depot, where about a dozen workers-for-hire were lurking in the parking lot. The first two I spoke to were waiting on a pick up from someone they had worked with before. The next one didn't understand a word I said -- perhaps because I mentioned a shovel. So then I struck up a conversation in ENGLISH with a guy about 22-23 or so named Jesus (as in Hayzuss) not the guy with the cross. He was born here, went to school in Flagstaff and spoke perfect English. That thrilled me to no end because before I left home I had printed out a bunch of stuff in Spanish off a translation site in case I needed more than my quite sparse supply of Spanish words and phrases. He also had a buddy there named Javier, who was also born here and spoke perfect English with no accent. So we sat and talked for about 20 mins. and did a little haggling until we got close to the right price. I can tell you right now that they no longer work for minimum wage. Finally, Javier offered to follow me home to see the job. That was about 6:15. They agreed to do it for $200, and I told them to get their butts going, which they did by starting to dig the trench. In the meantime, I had to wake up my wife so she could go to HD and pick up a couple bags of cement to mix with the gravel I already had in my backyard. She wasn't too pleased since she doesn't sleep well but tries to do so until at least 9 everyday. By the time she got back, they had finished the digging and moving the dirt to a backyard planter. They already had my mixer and a couple wheelbarrow loads of gravel out front. Once the cement got there, Jesus mixed and Javier wheeled it to the trench for distribution atop the plastic that Jesus had already put down. They finished the job at 10:45, and I was very satisfied with the result. The only glitch was sort of humorous. I was sitting on the patio, and they were on the other side of my driveway loading dirt into my wheelbarrow. All of a sudden I nearly came out of chair when what sounded like a gun shot came from where they were. Jesus turns and say " you got a blown tire." Since he was right next to the right rear tire of my wife's Elantra, which I couldn't see, I thought that was what he meant. Nope, it was the old, dried out tire on my 40-yr-old wheelbarrow that went kaboom after I had aired it up earlier because it was flat. End result: I sent Javier across to my neighbor's to ask to borrow their wheelbarrow, which we did. AND...they're coming back Thurs. to paint the wall and tree well.

1 pointFortunately CW doesn't relegate sponsors to a section the members would never see. What would become of the sponsors if they couldn't talk to the members? Our CW turnout & referrals have been remarkable - again - so, lots of people appreciate it. We'll go away in a day - we only hit the campfire hard a couple/three times a year with hunting and shooting relevant information. Until then just skip to the threads you'd like to read. That'll make it just like any other day.
