I am excited today as I got to spend some time in the pen with my new pup. "Clover" is a German wire-haired pointer like Rica was. I sense that good times, adventures and quail hunts lie ahead. The pups are five weeks old today, so it will be another three before the home schooling begins.

So I sent in a pair of old 8 power cascades which were like 14 years old and my highly loved Golden ring 10/17x42 switch powers to be fixed. Called in to pay $52 for the cascades and was broken hearted to hear they couldn't fix the golden rings and would offer me a pair of bx4 pro guides and I broken heartedly told him Id chew on what do do and call back. A couple minutes later he called me back and said he would hook me up! Hes replacing my cascades with a newer version of bx2 alpines that came out like two weeks ago and replacing my gold rings with a brand new pair of Santiam 15x56! I'm so freaking stoked!

My friends Mike and Darby Middleton in Chino Valley have two male German Wire-haired Pointer pups for sale. They were whelped March 22, so are 5 weeks old now. They will be good to rehome in another 3 weeks. Both dam and sire are AKC registered. Their dam is "Rizer' and comes from Central basin Kennels in Camp Verde. Eragon is the sire from Flagstaff and is dark colored. If you are interested or have questions, please contact Darby Middleton at DarbyMiddleton(at)gmail(dot)com or nine28four20441five. Darby is asking $750 for the males. "Drive" Pup #1 He is the smallest pup in the litter of 6 and has the best facial markings, imo.

Dreamed of owning a Weatherby since I was a kid. Couple weeks ago, I bought a Weathermark in 300 Wby at a RMEF banquet. Mounted a VX 3i 4.4-14x40 on it. Waiting on dies and nice weather to work up a elk load. Looking at using a Nosler AB or Partition.

I've shot one mule deer with the ABLR bullet. 142 grain 6.5mm bullet and the bullet did great. Deer dropped in its tracks at 100 yards and it was a done deal. Shot through the ribs and the exit hole was a little bigger than a golf ball. My problem is the bullet isn't that accurate. I could achieve about 3/4 MOA with the bullet (with a custom gun). If I shot 20 rounds I would have 2 flyers that I couldn't account for. Typically elevation changes on the range and 500 yards. It was really, really frustrating. I finally gave up on the bullets after putting about 200 of them down the tube. I switched to the Hornady ELD line of bullets and my gun was instantly shooting under .5 MOA and it shoots much better than that now. I have zero elevation issues even out to 1000 yards. The bullet flat out shoots and the tolerances that I've measured are much tighter than the ABLR bullets. I'm a huge nosler fan but this bullet isn't a long range bullet in regards to accuracy. If you were planning on shooting 500 yards and under the bullet would probably do fine. The question is if you were planning on shooting 500 and under why would anyone needs an ABLR bullet? The regular AB or BT bullet would do just fine. Bottom line is the ABLR bullet will be great under 500 yards for hunting and not consistent enough for accuracy reasons past 500. FYI - I've seen a few animals shot with Hornady bullets and they all did a great job.
