Just a thought but how about the outfitter refund the injured mans hunt, and offer a discount to fill his spot? It's been truly inspiring to be a member of this site for 15 plus years and see time after time hunters reaching out to help one another. People we know nothing about, but offering everything from loaning out equipment to hunters who's gear that has been stolen, pack out help, tips into great hunting areas, retrieval of broken down equipment, you name it. Flip the tables!

I don’t think it’s the camera itself, it’s the 50 guys going in all the time to check the cameras.

Hey All, Brian Chambers contacted me and said he is unable to go on a hunt that he had scheduled with Colburn and Scott outfitters for April 26 to 30. The hunt is fully guided. Brian says he is willing to make someone a smoking deal if anyone is interested. Please call him directly, 480-349-1075. Colburn and Scott have a great operation (I killed a great Gould's with them a few years ago) and you will have a great time if you decide to buy this hunt!

I have a 2014 Polaris Ranger Crew EPS for sale. This vehicle has only 3310 miles and 330.2 hrs. It has a 3” lift and 28x10” tires on it. I have also added the Dragon fire Racing doors. It has full length rock sliders to protect the underside. It has (2)4” cube led lights and (1) 13” light bar on the front and (1) 6” light bar above the rear window. It has the full glass front windshield and the 1/2 poly front windshield, you can choose which one you want to use depending on the weather. The rear window is glass and is tinted. It also has the driver and passenger mirrors as well as a rear view mirror. It has a horn as well. The tires are the Tuska Terrabite tires 28x10” D.O.T approved and the wheels are the MSA M20’S. It has a full length tool box in the bed and is easily removed with the lock and ride connectors. All fluids have just been changed as well as the front and rear differential and transmission. Awesome gun for a great price. These things are as accurate if not more than the 10/22. Tube fed so no lost mags or general feed issues. Make awesome small game survival rifles. Made some quick reload tubes and attached to an old model 60 I had. Very quick reload and allowed me to carry 51 rounds easily and quietly. These are extremely solid 22s. Wish I had a need for one! Very good price.

They only give out 2800+ tags for whitetail in unit 33 so you'll probably be ok...

We apparently think alike. We drywall guys call it "shooting texture" or "blowing mud".

I show mailing for 3 out of my 5 apps. As a non resident I don't think I got 3 tags. Have buddy's that show 6 out of 6 and some that show 1 out of 5 . No correlation and no way 3 guys I know got bighorn sheep tags. I don't think this is a back door.

I am not to sure about the carcass tag "backdoor", it states that I have carcass tags in the mailing status for elk, deer and oryx and none for pronghorn or sheep. I swing for the fences with my New Mexico applications and as much as I would like to have drawn those three tags, I highly doubt it.

+1 to a little bit of hiking. For MANY years, I tended to be a 'close to the road' kind of guy. My mentality was always; Why hike that far if I can find them close to the road. Was basically brought-up that way. About 15 years or so ago I started to hike-in more, evolving to a point where these days I basically hike an hour or more in the dark to get away from roads. Seems like >90% of hunters never get more than 1/2 mile from a road. Incredible how much solitude you can find with just a little hiking. Good luck!

No doubt a little hiking will get you away from the other hunters but don’t let it discourage you even when you see others. This past year a guy killed a beautiful buck 300 yards from me in a canyon I was watching in one of the 36s. I never saw the buck until he killed it and up until the shot I didn’t even know he was there and he probably didn’t know I was there. I moved to a different ridge but still watching the same canyon and killed a buck about an hour later. Just get out, do your own thing and have fun.

Applying for the draw this year we had high hopes that my dad would get a Gould’s tag since he had 17 points. Going into this hunt neither my dad nor I have ever hunted Gould’s or have been turkey hunting in over 8 years due to waiting for an opportunity to hunt these birds. We both had quail hunted the unit many times over the years, but had not set foot in the unit for several years. Thank you the Rob and Tyler for helping out with more recent information on where to find birds! We got down to the unit Thursday morning to setup camp and try to locate some birds for opening morning. We spent the entire day checking water sources in an area that I wanted to hunt. Only problem was we were not finding any fresh sign at all! For the last hour of light we opted to go into a new area that we have heard held a good amount of birds. We overlooked a big valley and listened until dark without hearing or seeing a bird. Opening day we woke up and decided we would go the big valley we were at during last light due to the amount of roosting possibilities and the stories we had heard of the birds in the area. We parked the truck well before light and before I got out of the truck we had 3 birds going off around us. We got everything ready and headed toward 2 birds sounding off about a 1/4 mile away. We setup and started to call right before light and had the birds fly off the roost towards us. After playing cat and mouse with the birds for over an hour we could not close the distance on them and backed out after the shut down for the morning. Hiking out it hit me on how I missed this area in southern AZ. While hiking back to the truck we found an area that was tore up with tracks and strut marks. This gave us a plan for the afternoon. We setup that afternoon not hearing any birds, but we knew we were in the right area with all of the sign and the birds being in the general area that morning. After sitting for an hour we got a response and the bird was within 200 yards. I keep calling and never got a response from the bird again when all of a sudden there he was 80 yards away looking at our decoy. He never gobbled again and ended up walking away. Day 2 started off the same with birds sounding off all around us. Again we chased 2 birds through the valley getting within 60 yards several times but no shot opportunity available. We ended up going back to the same area that we called in the bird the afternoon before. The wind was howling and it was a slow evening when we decided to back out with about 15 minutes of light left. As we were loading the truck I heard a gobble way down the valley so we headed up the ridge to try to locate the bird. We setup and started to glass down the valley when we located 2 birds already in there roost about a mile away. Knowing where the birds were roosting we worked our way in the next morning and setup about 100 yards from the gobbling birds. As we sat there waiting for light I let out a couple soft calls and the birds responded instantly. Waiting a couple more minutes for shooting light I called again and 1 of the birds flew off roost and landed right in front of us. He ended up walking into 20 yards and my dad was able to lay the hammer down on him. This hunt far exceeded our expectations and was an unforgettable experience. This was my dad’s first turkey and one of the first hunts that he and I were able to share with just the 2 of us in quite some time.
