5 pointsSaturday there was practically no snow! Then we got about 4” and then it rained all night and started snowing the next morning! Alpine spring break 2019!

4 pointsOn my way to Flagstaff for the weekend, stopped to take in the view. Lake is filling up nicely since the last time I passed by on March 3rd. There's still alot of runoff pouring into the lake. Pictures don't do it justice. It was a quiet and beautiful scene. Also, Uppet Lake Mary was full and spilling. Lower LM was probably 70% full and rising.

4 pointsHere is a european mount we did of a javalina my son shot. He shot the javalina at 15 yards with a win. 308. The only shot he had was a head shot. We understand the ethics of shot placement but based on conditions and his experience we made the decision to take the shot.

2 pointsJust a heads up - this is a venting post. I'm not looking to hire good contractors, I'm just wondering where they all went. I had my roof redone a couple years back and with all the recent snow, I've got leaks in several rooms. Some of the drywall is completely ruined. The company I hired went bankrupt, and all their warranties went away, magically. The same guy is still doing roofing up here, under a new name, new license and I have no recourse other than doing what I should have from the beginning - fixing it myself and doing it right. If you're an independent contractor, please...stand behind your work, and please do it right the first time. End of rant.

2 pointsLike he said. Contact the registrar of contractors. As a tile contractor myself I hate to see stuff like this happen. Kinda gives us good one's a black eye.

2 pointsContact the AZ Regestar of Contractors, they have a recovery fund for this sort of thing

1 pointLooking to free up some funds, selling my backup binos. These have been used for about 10 years as my main glass. Good shape, some cleaning marks and one small rub, all are not visible when viewing. I have original box, leica leather case, and Outdoorsmans adapter. $1650/priority shipped and insured.

1 pointOur Northern Arizona NWTF chapter up here in Flagstaff has its own website! We are blasting it out there and having our inaugural online raffle for a Cannon Meridian 48-gun safe. Tickets are $30 each and we're only selling 100 of them. You can go to the store and buy your tickets. There are less than 70 tickets left. The winner has to pick up the safe. No deliveries or shipping. If you're out of town and down't want to travel to get the safe, we can send you a gift card to Sportsman's Warehouse for $629. After we get through this raffle, we'll start having regular online raffles. https://www.naznwtf.org/ Thanks for looking!

1 pointWell here's the story, ill keep it short with pics. Went down this year for the first time, what a great experience. I met a couple great guys here on CWT that were looking for a few guys to hunt a ranch in Sonora Mexico, we talked and sounded like a great experience. So paper work and gun permits followed. . The time had come to go on the hunt, 1/05/19 -1/21/19. We met at Chad's place at 5am ( my friend Cecil and I ) loaded up and met the rest of the group, 8 in all The trip down was good, a little slow at the border checking on the Mexico side for the guns and had to unload extra Suzuki vehicles and drive thru check point and re load. Great from there , 60 miles down and then 2 hrs on dirt rd. back to the north to the ranch. Arrived about 3pm and met the ranchers and hands, if I could spell there names I would but I don't want to disrespect them by butchering there names. Great people for sure. That evening Jayson and Chad showed us the lay if the land. I thought it looked like the Matazal's foot hills and all. I knew I'd be right at home. The food was so good, lodging was super, hot water heat, clean was awesome . Started early Sunday morning after a great breakfast by momma . Then it was of to the hill, rained quite a bit that morning, saw some great bucks but it was the first day, dumb move, my buddy had a chance at a dandy but passed. He should of shot, he ended up with a 1x2 second to the last day. First buck he was stoked, a had 10 opportunities thru out the week at some big ones. He's learning how to shoot folded in half, steep stuff. So the week went on with some great bucks shoot. By the time I knew it was Friday and we just got Cecil done. . Saturday was it , I had to find something decent. Jayson and Chad and rancher Lupe went on a journey. I almost got a shoot at one I had been chasing but safety was on and he was gone. We moved further up the foot hills and started glassing, let me tell you those Swarovski BTX are crazy. Chad found lots of good bucks but they wouldn't stay still long enough to get a shot. Yes they were rutting hard. Then he found one a mile + away. We made a plan and went for it. After 1 hr hike we were within 700 yds.. Set up and found his does, then a great buck ran up to us at 20yrds, tried to get a shot, not easy with a 25x scope on a running buck that close, he never took his nose of the ground. Anyway my buck stud up and the shooting started, after 4 shoots with the 6.5 Creedmoor I went to Chad's 300rum, 2 more misses. Ranged again , my Zeiss range finder was still saying 655 yrds I was dead on left to right just couldn't tell if I was just high barely going under him. We broke out a Swarovski range finder , the same. Then a Vortex Jayson had, it said 705yrds, dialed it up and bam, he's on the ground doing the right stuff. . took the long walk over and found blood and guts but no deer, Chad said he thought he saw a buck get up and walk down into the thicker brush. Ray the cowboy came over and his dog jumped him up and he went around the corner, they found him days after we left. I put a bounty on him for incentive. It worked. They found him 60yrds from where I shoot him , shoot was a couple inches back. Ended up meeting Carlos at the border a few days later and collected my buck. I was shocked he was bigger then I thought. A big thankyou to Chad and Jayson two great guys , can't wait until next year. Here are some pictures from pick up to the wall. There's one picture of him with a 95" buck. One picture with his new friend's, and one of the biggest buck taken by Jim., congrats on a stud

1 pointJust passed a bill to ban coyote contest in NM. Gov will sign, anti dems in charge here. Guess we will have rabbit calling now. Before you bash AZ game and fish think about what a study will do. It will show the calling contest do not harm nor affect the population. They will have science to back them. Best method to fight antis. Don’t know your commission but They might be helping more than you think.

1 pointScout the brushy looking mesquite that’s at water line right now and mark it. You will be good in 3 weeks.

1 pointMy #1 tip would be wait. I'm going to scout for an anticipated late coues hunt instead based on the conditions and I'm itching to fish. Although, going out scouting and GPSing some structure at Roosevelt was a consideration. The lake will come up another 10-15 feet minimum and the fish will be spawning in what you can see above the water this weekend. Similar GPS points could be used to anchor at night in June with lights which can produce a big catch.

1 pointId be lying if I said mine was new. Its 5 bulls, 6 coues, 2 muleys, and 1 bear deep haha. Its taken care of, not neglected, but far from new.

I’ll be near 101/Deer Valley area (Reach 11 Soccer Compkex) on Sunday, roughly 11:45-2:00. If interested, please text/call and we can meet up. 520-262-9677 Greg

1 pointI'm trying to hold off the excitement until the lake stabilizes, but can't resist. Just this last week alone, she's up 7 vertical feet in elevation and 101,000 acre-feet in volume. Lots of things to be optimistic about at Roosevelt. I've got a good feeling I'll be breaking the mold of mediocre-at-best crappie fishing ol' Rosey has been producing the last 7 years. Can't wait, good luck and take some kids fishing when it kicks off if you can. They won't forget it.

1 pointI have NEVER had an elk within drivable range with a SXS or quad personally. Mine have ALWAYS been pack out elk. Multiple trips of pure heck on your shoulders/back/legs. It makes the plating after grilling so much sweeter.

1 pointWe are getting primo conditions between storms and warm spells such that there is good vegetative growth and lots of holding water. In the Juniper/chaparral country is still showing the damages from the last drought, but the valley floors and the conifer areas are looking exceptionally well set for healthy critters. Of course, I am speaking of the 19a, 19b, and 8 areas.
