Welp, we got locked out with bad weather on our recent trips to Missouri. Guide said birds were stale, and the weather was holding up the migration, but we were already in town visiting the in-laws and our time was limited. I canceled 2 days of the hunt, and gambled on the last day, just to give it an effort. Guide wanted us to hunt a week later for fresh birds, but we had to get home. Saw probably a couple hundred thousand geese, but they were not decoying as they had been there for a while. Still, we got off a few volleys. good times with the boy anyways.

I'd like to hear your opinions on what you think happened here. We are thinking while in velvet, he got wrapped in barbwire or something along those lines.

I was looking at them the other day and look very cheaply made. Spend 3-5 more and get a polaris ranger with warranty.

Thanks for responses. I did draw 6A and saw the old post. I hadn’t thought of the fact that you would probably still have to lug it out to a horse, which means a quad would be about the same. Over the years my job has evolved to mostly desk time and I am painfully aware at 52 I cannot do what I used to do. I am starting to get more active and have plenty of time to be in better condition for the hunt, was just spitballing ideas. A weak back has always been my limit and it’s almost comical how just one wrong turn or twist can totally immobile you if your not careful. Sounds like a canyon bull will be a shared bull! Which works for me! Do those Creedmore’s pull game towards you with the backdraft?

Google and learn the gutless method, boned out quarters and get a good pack frame. Anyone who spent 8 hours dragging an elk is not someone you should take hunting advice from. If you have the November hunt it will be cool enough to hang the quarters and you’ll have time to get them out. If not, be careful you don’t shoot one too far in or have lots of friends.

The action is in great shape. You are correct. The 6mm was never readly accepted at first. Remington corrected the twist issue. It will out shoot a 243 all day long. Check the ballistics!
