No tag for me, maybe I'll help others with filling their tag this fall. Until then I'll be hunting the yellow paydirt.

There might be hope. My card was hit today for 3 junior tags in which now I could careless if I get drawn because my 3 girls are going elk hunting this year. Sincerely, One happy dad

If you kill one at the bottom of a large canyon, just bring a knife and fork and enjoy. Your buddies, once they find out where you killed it, will "suddenly" remember they have other "obligations" to tend to. 😁 I've packed out more than I've killed. Part of the fun!

Is this your first draw? If they hit your card, you have a tag. Relax.

Tikka T3 Lite chambered in .270 with a Vortex Viper PST FFP illuminated reticle scope. Leupold rings, Harris Bipod, cheek pad/ zippered storage. Adjustable trigger(2-4lbs) currently set a 2 lbs and very crisp. I’ll even throw in a cabelas hard case. Great set up, I just don’t use this rifle (only a dozen rounds through it) and could use the money. $1100 OBO

I have a dilemma. I understand the rail, but I dont necessarily like the look on a hunting rifle, and I have had good success with Leupold mounts, and Talley 1 PC mounts. I have 2 or 3 Howa 1500 rifles that need new mounts and rings. I have always used Leupold for the most part with great success, so I am torn. Do I put rails on these rifles which can be more convenient, but also more costly? I can seem to find a steel rail for a Howa long action either, so i dont know if I love the idea of an aluminum rail with steel rings. 2 or the 3 rifles will be getting Burris Veracity 3-15x50 scopes with 30mm tubes. The other will be a 1" tube. If that matters. They will all be hunting rifles that are 0-600 yard guns mostly. The 257 weatherby might stretch past that, but I doubt the two 6.5x55 will. Thoughts?

I go on 9 hunts with others for every 1 that I hold the tag. Perfectly legal, and a blast. Extra pack mules/spotters are a lifesaver.

Bought one 35 years ago for wife. she killed her first deer with it and so did all our kids. This gun is a tack driver. Everyone that uses it shots Micky Mouse ears on targets and fills a tag

Just going through these forums bored and if you were still wondering. I just got the stx with the 65mm objective. I’ve looked through the 80mm hd ats model as well. The stx/atx is with out a doubt the clearer and brighter glass. It’s well worth the money. It is so clear it’s un real. Usually in a spotter it gets less clear as you increase the magnification. That is not the case with the stx/atx. It stays clear from edge to edge. The field flattener they put in the EL Bino and the ATX/STX is un real.

What an awesome story and a wonderfully written piece man! I couldn't imagine your grandfather being more proud of the legacy he left behind. Really love that you shared a pic of the family Jeep too!!! I'm sure there are a few chapters worth to be written for the places it has been, which I would happily read by the way. You are a talented writer and I enjoyed your story end to end. THANK YOU.

Thanks for all the info guys. I hear so many mixed reviews about this unit but for the most part it sounds like its tough. Fortunately, tough is way better than impossible. So I plan to get after it and make the most of it, unless of course we drew something different(unlikely). Congrats to those of you that have been succesful in the past.
