My dad and nephew were able to fill their muzzleloader bull tags. The previous day me dad missed a nice 6x6 after a tree jumped into his shooting lane. This was the first elk for my nephew after he missed earlier in the hunt as well. He was able to shoot this spike at 130 yards when it was bedded down on the second to the last day of the hunt. It was a bit of a rough hunt as we didn't find the numbers or the elk where we usually do.

I never keep one chambered. I only hunt now with my wife and kids, and I forbid them from having a round chambered. $h!t happens. My wife and oldest missed some opportunities on some bulls because nothing was chambered, but I can assure you I will never have to tell a story like that. Missing an opportunity to harvest an animal isn't worth my life.

So fun to hunt these beautiful Coues Whitetail. I passed on about 10 different back before deciding to take this beautiful deer. Not a big guy but like his shape and cemetery. 94 pounds field dressed, 4 x 4 with a little kicker and nice eyeguards. Thanks for the information and knowledge sharing by all who frequent this site. You all give not only useful information but a love for hunting as well.

I was watching a herd of deer this morning. One deer was running around with its head down chasing the others and sniffing them. I was ready to grab my pack and rifle. But wait, let's get out the spotting scope first. What do we have here, a dominate lesbian doe? Hey, I'm all for equal rights. If she identifies as a buck should I be allowed to tag her?

Don't overlook a .280 Remington, not the AI, just an old school .280. I just got one worked on and it is showing promise. Pencil thin barrel.

Sad lesson for all of us. Back in the 70's and 80's, my dad was the safety officer for AZGFD and would travel all over the state setting up the hunter safety classes. He would always instill the importance of safe gun handling, almost to a fault. I am very thankful for his persistence to this day.

Seriously? Also, how do you fork over 30+k without due diligence as far as research these days. Not to diminish the OP’s suffering, but how?

Up to two annually. Not an expert but they cannot be from the exact same hunt number but can be the same unit. For example, one archery in unit X and then a HAM or rifle in same unit. Or can be different units.

In my unit in southwest AZ, we were being told all the deer are “up high” but we found that anywhere we found ferry duster, there were deer. This year, we found more deer than any year previous and they were all in the flats where ferry duster littered the washes. Not “up high”...

Found this set during the muzzleloader elk hunt. First time I've ever found a set this close together.

Get a notarized letter confirming that your buddy is the owner of the truck and company. NOTE: Some "work trucks" are 3/4 ton trucks with tool box or tool boxes on the back; also, some work trucks are "dually" or flat beds, those trucks aren't allowed outside the Free Zone. If your buddy's truck is a 3/4 ton truck but is not a dually and it has no tool box or boxes on the back and is not a flat bed, you'll be ok. Thanks. Ernesto C.

I wouldn’t even load for it. Get 64 rounds and good spotter and start lobbing

That had to be an incredibly hard video for him to make. Watching someone who's been through that tell their story really drives the point home much more than having someone read a list of firearm safety tips.

Two years ago, we had an accidental discharge that was a close call on an elk hunt. I am always extremely safe with firearms, but one second of distraction can end up tragically. Luckily, the discharge did not happen 30nsecond earlier, or I would not be here. Also had a negligent discharge when I was a teen that almost cost me my life. And did cost the cousin of one of my best friends an butt kicking.

11 years ago tomorrow, I received the best Christmas present ever. At 0831 on December 24, 2011, our son, Jacob, was born. I can't thank you all enough for the support you have given him on his black belt journey. I also appreciate those of you who allow me to spew my scientific and regulatory knowledge to help clarify issues and discussions here. I also appreciate the help and offers for help I've received from total strangers on here. I'm proud to call many of you my friends and I'm proud to know many more of you! Merry Christmas from my family to yours!

I have a PJ car hauler and I love it. Personally I would only buy/own a dual axle trailer. That's just me.

Take a sharpie and mark the arrow. See if it's the same one everytime.

I have hunted a portion of 36c flats since I was 10 years old, after much trial and error (wet years and dry) I have discovered that certain bucks prefer certain areas of cover no matter the weather or time of year. That being said, when pushed they move to different patch of dirt that looks similar to the patch of dirt they just left. My last flats buck.

I am going through this now. Sounds like a verifier will work for you, which is a "reading glass" in the peep. A clarifier is similar but is used with a magnified site. If you see distance ok then you just need a little correction to see the pins better. I just had one installed at Timber Mesa. I think I chose too much magnification and need to go back and try another. Here is a video describing it.
