Unit 31 is pretty 2wd Friendly. I hunted it with my ranger lots of times. Just hike and glass. Lots of deer. As many pigs as anywhere else. Good luck!

Any of you collect prickly pears to juice? My husband and I went out last night and gathered several. He juices them and then uses the juice in an amazing BBQ sauce and also to make a Prickly Pear IPA (both of which I had yesterday from prior batches). We also use the juice in smoothies or in margaritas. We use metal tongs to pick them and desert broom branches to brush off the spines before putting them in a bucket. Perfect temps last evening and gorgeous almost full moon came up just before sunset. Made for a wonderful evening. tonight my husband will be brewing beer under the full moon

I was up in 8 two weeks ago and encountered the same mentality . A couple idiots in their RZRs passing everyone whether safe or not, then creating so much dust no one could see. I dont share the "outlaw the dang things" view, but some "law enforcement" that was supposed to come from our OHV sticker fees to GF would be nice. Idiots will drive like idiots whether on the paved road or dirt roads, UTV or automobile. Slap some fines on them and see if they slow it down. As Forest Gump's Momma said," Ain't no fixin Stupid".

I have been after the same bull for the last few days he is in the same meadow every morning but I can not get close enough he has about 6 cows with him. I have seen a lot of deer antelope and a bear Three more days to go to find a bull

the only place i've seen a wingshooting opportunity was on the ridges around pancho springs in unit 1. facing north at mid-morning they were flying upslope thru the ponderosas' like f-16s on afterburner. i have a dozen or so most days in my front yard and hawks take a few-are they any good to eat? you can find many foraging on the ground along the rim road east and west of hiway 60 just south of show low. lee

I guess we are both confused Bob or just me and not understanding your question right. You asked The question could be , How GOOD of a hunter are you. All I asking how die hard people think they are not how good of a hunter/ stalker/ killer they are. I was giving an example about some one might love basketball like someone loves hunting. Even if their not that good they love it and practice and indulge in it all the time. I don't think Im a pro hunter by all means. Just a glorified weekend warrior hunter who thats rates himself as a 4-5 scale as how die hard I think i am. But yes If i rated myself like you said as a good hunter I would guess 4-5 as well. Im not sure where it sounded like I was mocking you Bob. That wasn't my intent, I apologize if that's how it came across.

I'm I'm 5B South and it's been a tough hunt. Going to stick it out till the end. If I fail it will be a self imposed failure. I have had some good shots at smaller 6x6's and passed. We will see what opportunities the last few days present.

Got my bull down Thursday morning. Was in really good rut activity the whole hunt.
