Take him quail and rabbit hunting between now and February. That will really help get him used to walking around in the woods and knowing what to look for.

By the time we got to the spot tonight, we only had about 45 minutes of legal shooting time left. But each boy got at least 2 birds. So I'd call it a success.

Not much of a story really beings the hunt lasted 30 min after opening light. Bedded the buck the night before, Colby was on one side of the meadow close to where they had been the previous night. I glassed the antelope up, Colby got into a little cover and the antelope decided to run right to him. Colby shot and I watched the buck lay down less than 30 yards from where he was originally shot. Fun fast hunt. The buck scores 79 1/2 sci. Big congrats to my cousin!!! Preparation and practice truly do pay off. Hope you enjoy the pictures. The pictures didn’t post in the order I tried to do them in sorry.

My son decided he wanted to put in for archery antelope this year. He was able to get a new bow as he had outgrown his old one over the summer. He was able to practice, and put his time in. We were able to scout, although we had not been able to find any shooter bucks. We decided to hunt an area we had not been able to scout. We were able to get on a few different bucks, but he was not able to close the deal. We decided to go back to the area we had scouted in hopes some bucks had moved into the area. We were able to locate 8 bucks by 8:00 am. He was able to seal the deal on this buck! Very proud of him. He put in about 18 miles in three days of hunting, and never gave up.

Shot a quick limit this evening. I was bored and figured I'd go shoot in the backyard for a little.

I got this tag with 16 points. I was thinking that i was going to see a lot of goats, but its been slow. I talked to the ranger for this unit and he said that due to the green up not happening this spring that all the animals moved looking for food and water in the forest. now that the monsoon as been dumping all the water I might have a chance for the October hunt, that is only if they return. he said that he has been doing fly overs and that he is not seeing the herds in the normal places. thanks for the help

Pretty much any unit touching Tucson should have plenty of Javelina. It might be worth putting in for an area he is interested in or finds scenic. Best bet for success is stick to what you know. Either that or find a BP agent with some night vision.

I'm taking a group of older boy scouts out this evening. We took them out last week to practice on some clay pigeons. We will have a few first timers in the group, so it ought to be good times. Hopefully we find a few birds.

Words can not express how blessed and happy I was to draw the only tag in the Sonoita area. My brother Ricardo was with me from scouting, practicing and till we were able to seal the deal. So happy to be successful on this hunt

You don't need camo for deer hunting with a rifle was my point.... I'd be more worried about if my crap is gonna get through the catclaw and thick crap that you'll probably experience in coues country south of IH 10.... Nothing better at this than Carharts....

Deer don’t see color or depth like humans. If you must use camo, use a paturn you like, made from a material that works for the enviroment your in and made by a company you can afford

I took Duwane Adams glassing class years ago. We glassed the south and east facing slopes first thing in the morning and then turned around as they started feeding towards bedding areas. Coues deer will stay up later than muleys so it lets you glass away from the sun longer. I think it was around 9 when we turned and started glassing the north facing slopes. It was crazy because we started seeing deer feed out of view and turned around to glass the opposite ridges and had different deer pop into view.
