9 pointsA couple of days in the season I was able to drill this guy at 15 yards. Super excited for my first Coues deer with a bow!

4 pointsWe just got back yesterday again from the white mountains and did awesome. Caught over 50 rainbows, mostly all stockers but kids loved it. At one time we had 4 kids hooked up on fish at the same time. You know you are catching a ton when you have 3 stringers full some doubled up and then have to throw some back because you don’t have any more room.

2 pointsDove season growing up was one of my favorite hunts ever with my Dad and brother. Grew up hunting the dairys out in Buckeye and Rainbow Valley. Now for my 2 boys its the same. Every year they look forward to it. My son came back from college just for this weekend. I am lucky to have a buddy Kenny who lets us hunt his property. Kenny reached out a few years ago to Veterans to hunt dove on his property which was very nice of him. Thx Kenny for keeping the memories for my family. He also has a bad a$$ bird dog. The one in the pic is his Dove dog and his GSP is his quail dog which is amazing. This dog saved so many birds, she's amazing. Here are some birds from our group of people. Cooked the birds up on the Traegar. Soaked the birds in Buttermilk for 24 hours, then added salt, pepper, garlic, put a small piece of green chile across it, then on top of that a bacon strip. Cooked for about 1 hour on 325F and everyone loved it.

1 pointMe. Lol. Who else loves blackpowder antelope and what is your poison. I shoot a CVA Optima V2 Long Range. 28 inch Bergara Barrel. 123 grains Blackhorn 209 and 250 gr8 Federal Bor Lock Bullets. Last year I got a doe at 263 yards with open sights. Have to obey all of Colorados Blackpowder laws so: open sights only, no sabets, only loose powder, and others

1 pointHunts for Heroes was just given a premium archery bull elk tag (hunt would start in 2 and 1/2 weeks). We have the disabled vet picked out (who's an archer), but he recently received his bow back from the manufacturer and it needs to be set up (new strings and tuned). He lives south of Tucson --- who's your recommended "GO-TO" guy in Tucson? We need to make this happen ASAP! Thanks for your help!

1 pointAs I see quite a few antelope hitting the ground, I wanted to put in a plug (on the correct forum this time) for Troy at Authentic Wildlife... I lifted the idea from another post I saw on here, but Troy is a great guy and does great work.

1 pointBullpen has been rough lately. Boxberger has been Rodneyesk. Bradley has been horrible. A lot of really major mistakes from the manager. However, the offense has fallen into a May like slump as well. Even Peralta has cooled off.

1 pointIsn't your closer supposed to get guys out? Or am I missing something. Sickening to watch the Dbacks fight and claw to a lead on the Dodgers only to have the bullpen blow it late.
-
1 pointI've been watching them all season, catching the better part of their game. But it is starting to get tough and aggravating to watch. If I don't see something to motivate me this week, I'm going to find something better to do with my time.

1 pointCan't even listen to that baseball on the radio......could drive me to drinking!!!! Get that ship liked out Torrey or it will be sunk.........as for the Dodgers..........not a chance of rooting for them ever!!!!

1 pointSpot and stalk, I watched him bed up and then I moved in. When he got back upto feed he was alot closer than I anticipated.

1 pointI think people believe their camps and noise disturb deer a lot more than they do. Especially in the case of wilderness deer. Ive been 8 miles deep in the mazatzal and had two herds of deer walk into my camp to stare at my little fire from less than 10 yards away within 30 minutes of each other. Had a forky buck walk dang near right up to us when we were camped by a creek making breakfast in the morning one time. Last year I had a doe and her fawn walk right up to me when I was going up a tree in a climber. Deer are very curious critters. In my experience your much more likely to spook them out by moving through an area. I usually sleep right at my glassing spot if I’m using binos and if I’m sitting an ambush, I’ll be within 100-200 yards of it so I don’t make too much noise going in. I’ve even slept in my ground blind before and still seen deer the next day.

1 pointFor 10+ years, I used a Chrony Alpha. Cheap, and was very close. I always verify with actual drops at distance however. I just switched to a Labradar. I love it, but it eats batteries fast.

1 pointI saw this buck alive one time then found him about a year later about 200 yards from where I originally saw him.

1 pointWell we went back out to try and eleminate some more coyotes. We blanked on the first stand. Had my youngest son on shotgun duty. We drove to another area we had seen a few on the antelope hunt. My oldest son and I began to glass as this is how we had seen most of coyotes in the area. About twenty seconds into glassing I found 5 all together. We grabbed our gear and snuck into the one bush we could find. A little cotton tail in distress and we had three of the five charging in. I told my oldest son to give his younger brother a chance with the shotgun, and let them come as close as they would come. The lead dog came into 150 yards and checked up, caught our wind and left taking his two buddies with him. Upset we had three headed in and not a shot fired, my youngest said "dad you see the one by the rock?" I did a quick scan and found the one dog who was sure he was out of range. He was sitting in the middle of a rock pile and was looking back at the "bad bush". I asked my oldest for a range, to which he stated he had left the range finder back at the truck. I figured I had nothing to loose, I got down behind my my rifle found Mr. Cocky sitting on his rump giving us the stink eye. I started my squeeze, (uncontrolled jerk). That's when I realized the safety was still on. Took the safety off, and really took my time on the trigger, utilizing the hold over hash marks in my scope, and guessing the range. After the shot I was able to see the coyote was down. My sons and I than realized just how far thie shot had been. We all started giving our guesses at the range, Gage 486, Gavin 385, me 400. We went and check the dog. I hit him just behind the left shoulder an the V-Max had done its job very effectively. when we got back to the truck, Gage grabbed the range finder, and was back to the bad bush. As I walked back to him, I asked how far. Gage said 446. This was not my longest shot at a coyote, but it was the longest shot I had ever hit a coyote at. Was just lucky to have my two best hunting partners with me. The year has started off great, can't wait to see how the rest of the year go's!

1 pointOh goody. And I got my muzzleloader all dialed in up to 300 yds... hopefully shoot one at 15, lol

1 pointHeaded back to this area in the morning. With my sons antelope tag punched, we are turning our attention to coyote population reduction (with extreme prejudice)!!! Hope to post some more pictures soon.

1 pointFYI I saw the swacker fixed blade in person. it’s looks brutal. May be my next trad head

1 pointDeer don’t see color or depth like humans. If you must use camo, use a paturn you like, made from a material that works for the enviroment your in and made by a company you can afford
-
1 pointFirst Lite's layering system has been good for me based almost entirely on comfort and functionality across a wide range of temperatures but if you're concerned with what pattern works best don't worry about it very much. Some recent studies on ungulate's vision show camo isn't all that important so long as you can break up your silhouette and remain still or move very slowly in deer country.
