Other than 4b which is the premierr trophy elk unit in Az, I always hunt sucky areas so I have not seen any difference in the last many years. In my OPINION,another BIG difference I have noticed is the proliferation of UTVs roaming about. It has become a cancer in our sport. I am a firm believer that the introduction of the utv has made hunting "easier" or more accessible (if in beleif only) to the "average joe" hunter so now they can go further and longer. Thankfully I get OFF the road so I don;t have to worry about 90% of those guys.... As a disclaimer, I DO use a utv, but only to get to a trail head or when I am toting kids.

I heard that both auction bulls and the raffle bull were all killed there this year. 400" bulls should be no problem to find

The guy comes back home with a myriad of health issues after serving our country in Iraq . Right now he is sitting on his sofa with his foot in a cast after his 18th gazillion surgery. I suppose "lucky" is a relative term.

Social media for sure! Look at Wyoming. I got on to it because of social media but for the past 4 years the units almost need extra preference point every year because of increase application. On the other hand before social media years ago on a pig hunt. Went with a buddy and his family and were told of this awesome spot and everyone will bag out. We get there and there are hunters camped all over this area. We talked to 2 different camps and they said the same thing we were told. Hunting spots burn up faster then California does. Keep your mouth shut on honey holes, water holes, hunting units in general

I would blame social media first and foremost.

I would agree that podcasts and social media have basically ruined our little secret of leftover tags.

My shop is only about 800 square feet. I'm not going any bigger. Keeping four of these things going is plenty for me, I don't want anymore and if I had the floor space I know I'd buy another one. I may swap spindles in a few years though, I wouldn't mind unloading my toolroom mill and getting something with a 5th-axis trunion on it.

This really happened Monday when I was returning from San Antonio and the woman sitting next to me asked if I was on a business trip. When I told her I heading home to Tucson after interviewing a Texas bowhunter who had hired me to ghostwrite his memoirs, she went into a tirade about hunters killing God's creatures and ended by proudly announcing she was a vegetarian. "Really?" I asked. "I hope you are taking the required supplements." When she asked what I meant, I explained that humans are omnivores, and that a strict vegetation diet can cause APD. When she asked about APD, I said: "It's Animal Protein Deficiency. It can get ugly. Being overbearing, opinionated and downright rude are the early symptoms. You might want to check with your doctor." She never said a word the rest of the trip. Bill Quimby
